The Wheatsheaf Inn is located in the centre of Egton, a North York Moors village with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. The Inn dates back to the 19th Century where it was the centre of village life; and it still is today!
The Wheatsheaf is celebrated for its accommodation, restaurant and bars; it has already gained many accolades for its varied and seasonal menu using fresh fish and game (when in season) together with locally grown vegetables. There is a comprehensive A La Carte menu together with a daily specials board.
The accommodation comprises of three comfortably furnished double rooms and one children's bunk room (sleeps two).
The inn has tremendous character and features comfortable seating together with interesting collectables that Nigel has accumulated from various local auctions - pictures, fishing rods, gun cases, sports equipment, antique models boats etc.etc.

Went here for lunch, not accommodation. Food is outstanding, and went back for Sunday lunch. Selection of real ales which were well kept, as well as selection of larger. Friendly service and very reasonable priced.
We were looking for a lovely place for Sunday lunch following a visit to the NYMR. We were lucky to be able to reserve a table at the last minute. Upon arrival it was warm and cosy with our table set up ready in the bar area with a high chair as requested. There are several different areas for eating or relaxing and we would definitely like to return and eat in the restaurant area. The Sunday Roasts were all absolutely delicious with plenty of vegetables to go around! The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming and it would have been lovely to stay longer and enjoy more food and drink by the fire. One member of staff even offered to have our toddler’s plate washed and returned to us, which is certainly above and beyond. We will definitely be returning and thank you for exceeding our expectations. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Booked for lunch today on recommendation. Very impressed what a beautiful country pub with real fires and 1st class hospitality and lovely food what's not to love. Asked if they had rooms and they will do later in the year they are just getting the rooms done as we speak. So booked 2 rooms for my birthday 🎂 in Nov with friends. The dining room looked lovely too can't wait to return could have sat there all day. Such a welcoming place highly recommend. *************** Wouldn't let me review again. Just returned from our stay with friends in the new bedrooms. Omg the rooms are beautiful, the hosts again so welcoming and friendly and the food last night was superb. Finished the night off in the bar with some locals and had a great time. Can't wait to visit again. Highly recommend 👌
The snug at the entrance to the Inn is wonderful and with the fire was blazing and the friendly staff it made our stay for lunch memorable. I had the Fish Pie and my partner had the kedgeree which were both amazing. We will definitely make this a go to place when we return. I highly recommend the Inn as you will not be disappointed
We were fortunate to find this pub for an evening meal. Food very delicious, so much so that we booked again for the following night & managed to get the last table. Salmon particularly good & lamb excellent too. Wine very reasonable Service fab. Definitely recommend.
