About us

Recently taken over by Wesley and Emma Chamberlain, the plan for this beautiful pub is to bring it back to its former glory as a gastropub (don’t worry this just means it will be a destination for serious eaters). Not forgetting those who enjoy a decent pint of course. The original taproom has been restored. With a roaring fire, a comfortable sofa and real ales. We still welcome cyclists and walkers with a brew and a slice of home baked cake, so please drop in and get warmed up anytime as our opening hours have been extended too!

“Our vision for the pub is simple. Good, seasonal food, cooked to a high standard and enjoyed in relaxed surroundings. We want to bring back the traditional English country pub that’s the hub of the village”.

With this in mind a bartering system has been put in place. Produce for Beer!

If you are an allotment owner, fisherman, shooter or forager, bring in your surplus produce and swap it for a free pint or two!

“We are passionate about food, efficient service and community spirit and look forward to meeting you all”.

Visited with friends last night and tonight as we're staying nearby in our caravan. Super little village pub. Landlord and lady very friendly, and hard working as are the staff we met. Very quick service, food excellent, piping hot and good portion sizes so thanks to the Kitchen staff too. Nice to see a village pub with a bit of buzz. Really wanted to sample Sunday lunch but sadly we have to go home. Well worth a visit and been perfect to have on our doorstep this last 2 nights. Will definitely come back again.

I could not recommend the swan enough. Me and two friends stayed here over the weekend, the owners went above and beyond for extra dietary requirements, local information and the evening meal food was to die for! (Highly recommend the chicken with creamy mushroom sauce). I rarely leave reviews negative or positive but this had to be reviewed! Lovely quiet location with tidy gardens (and dog friendly too!)

Called in for a drink at The White Swan while out cycling. Great to find a pub out in a small village still. Very welcoming staff, friendly locals and a great pint of Landlord. We didn't have anything to eat this time, but the food looked and smelled great, so we will call another time soon and try a meal.

Called in on a Saturday for lunch and was met with a warm welcome by owner and staff. The three of us took a while to decide what to have from the good selection of dishes from the menu , eventually all decided to have a light ciabatta sandwiches lunch ( or so we thought ). ....The portions were large ! I had roast beef and a jug of hot gravy , my wife had a bacon ,brie and cranberry, salad & homemade coleslaw and my daughter had the posh finger ciabatta with salad & coleslaw ALL included best homemade CHUNKY CHIPS we have ever seen & eaten ! All of our plates were full and so were we afterwards. Posh fingers were homemade and a good size. The Bacon & brie was plenty full. The Roast beef was succulent & tender & enough gravy to compliment the beef and the outstanding chunky chips . .. We are looking forward to our next visit to try the Sunday lunch . Very attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere. Many thanks to all concerned. With 3 drinks included in the bill for £50 , great value and quality.

Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere at the pub. Had the White Swan pie (dont worry it is steak not swan🙂). Tasty dessert too. Decent pint of beer as well. All good, will return. Returned December 2022 for Xmas lunch menu. Delicious, hot, good quality meal. 3 courses thoroughly enjoyed. Nice pint of Atlantic too. Party of 8 people... all clean plates, great service.
