After walking in the Moors with a very soggy Spaniel, tried Golden Lion but they stressed clean, quiet dogs allowed only. Went across the road to Queen Catherine. Pub was empty (it was 5pm so understandable) and VERY cold. Has been modernised since we last visited years ago. Food was OK- huge portions. Lady serving us was a bit abrupt. We couldn't fit in a pud but asked for a coffee as we had a long drive home only to be told the machine had been switched off already. Quite expensive but it's in a National Park so understandable. All in all - perfectly OK place after a long wet walk...
We had a meal only. It was a lovely pub/hotel. The service was excellent. Very friendly staff. The meal was super delicious. Absolutely perfect. One of the best I've had. Pan seared salmon on a bed of garlic and thyme mash laid on tomato and basil sauce. Mouth watering. Applecrumble and custard /ice cream yummy. Will go back for another mouth watering meal. I was in awe of the hand painted old world maps of North Yorkshire on the walls and a beautifully painted mural on back of the wall. Roseberry topping and the surrounding countryside with a beautiful pheasant perched in the front of painting with fantastic colours standing at the forefront looking to be on the back bench. WOW.WHAT AN ARTIST.!!! Recommend a country visit to this The Three Tuns pub. If you like the good old fashioned Country pub that's animal friendly then I definitely recommend it. Internet there free Wi-Fi.very Relaxing.
Had lunch outside, just a sandwich but the bacon was freshly cooked just right and the fried eggs were crispy with soft yolks. After a long walk it really hit the spot.
There's no rating on the rooms as I only had food and drink scampi (10 pieces) and chips was good fish and chips was excellent fish was well cooked crispy batter plenty of skin on chips mushy peas as well .
Bar food was OK. 2 x scampi n chips, 1 x Tuna sandwich and 1 x cheese burger. Plus a few drinks. Used this as a stop of whilst walking as it was situated in the centre of the village. Very quiet. Not busy at all at 1230 in August.
