Knaresborough is a delightfully pretty town, conveniently nestled between the historic cathedral city of York and the vibrant city of Leeds.
Visit the spa town of Harrogate only 2 miles from Knaresborough. The towns castle sits on a rocky outcrop, high above the gorge carved by the river Nidd. The views from this point are outstanding and a short stroll to the river offers rowing boats for hire during the summer months. Mother Shiptons caves along the river is well worth a visit. A busy traditional market is held every wednesday.

Lovey little restaurant my daughter chose to have her 40th birthday party looked after us very well food and service were first class
We visited on a Saturday night and weren't sure if there'd be room- thankfully we got a table. Dogs are allowed so we were all welcome. We had some drinks and a meal- my pie and mash was fantastic! The chef makes the pies from scratch and you can really tell. We'll definitely be back!
Nice pub in knaresborough with proper pub grub. Really good pies and steaks. Good selection of drinks and beer.
Brilliant service, Fantastic food, we had the steak and ale pie, came red hot and with a special touch of mushy peas and fried crispy onions on top, Home made chips. The Chef even made room for us by moving tables around to accommodate us, The whole experience was fantastic.
Stayed here recently, staff friendly, however our room was dirty, stains on headboard that would be easily wipeable, shower head not the best, sprayed more on the ceiling than yourself as was too powerful. Dirty / used milk pots in the jar with unopened ones. Room needed updating. Stayed for 2 nights but don't replenish your tea / coffee etc.. in rooms for following night stay, didn't make the bed, had to ask for extra towels due to having to mop up the water all over the bathroom from the shower head and were just handed them. Great location though, can't fault it for that, food also looked good however, didn't eat there as didn't serve food on the day we wanted to eat there. Think it's too highly priced for what you get.

The Old Royal Oak is definitely worth a visit, located in Knaresborough's famous 'Market Square' the pub dates back to the 18th century and has a real 'oldy worldy' feel to it, it’s even got it's very own ‘Priest Hole’.
