About us

You will always find a friendly atmosphere in the Three Coopers and a warm welcome from Rob and Sara.

The traditional style pub is a 17th century building and has pool and darts, BT sports, free Wifi and a wonderful beer garden that acts as a sun trap. Families are welcome here and dogs are as well but not in the rooms. We have 5 letting rooms all of a modern decor and all en suite. Each bath room has a shower, heated towel rail, shampoo and shower gel, hand soap, moisturising lotion and face wipes. The main rooms all have a hair dryer, kettle, cups, tea, coffee, milk etc.

The pub is situated just off the high street but very easy to find, less then 100m from the bus stop and 200m from the train station. We like the town of Bedale and find it very friendly. It has a tourist information centre, museum, golf course, park and a high street full of fantastic little shops. Whether you are passing through or looking to stay locally we are sure you will enjoy your time here and hope to see you soon!

At the moment we are only providing breakfasts for guests, if you require a meal please call and we can suggest or reserve you a table locally.

Rob has been in this trade for over 20 years and has run pubs in Thirsk, South Shields, Ferryhill, Sheffield and Carlton Miniott before coming to Bedale. Sara was a zookeeper who has worked in several places both in England and abroad before she married Rob and joined the business. Together we are a friendly team who like to have a good laugh with the customers and make everyone feel welcome. We have two Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Treacle and Bailey, who get most of the attention as they are very loving. We have a couple of fish tanks in the pub that we like for the atmosphere and the fact they are more interesting then most things on TV! We like to spend time in the beer garden and have a lovely display of flowers each year.

Spent a most enjoyable weekend. Rob and Sara very welcoming. Lovely comfortable rooms and amazing breakfast. Sets you up for the day. Highly recommend as a place to stay when visiting the Yorkshire Dales.

What a rude owner. When we entered he stood behind the bar and said “well I’m not just stood here for the fun of it” and poured a pint of dark fruits that smelled rotten and tasted very perfumy end vinegary, I took it to 5 other members of my group who all immediate said it smelt and tasted off, and advised not to drink It, when I took it to the bar and told him it tasted funny, he immediately got on the defence and said cider has a shelf life of 10 years and it will be fine. Had to leave an almost full pint on the side and buy a Guinness.. witnessed his rude behaviour and attitude all night. Made a point of not buying another drink in there.

Probably the rudest landlord I've ever come across. Dirty looks , rolling his eyes and sniggering with his buddies at the bar . Great way to treat a family with a 6 year old girl . Give this a miss guys , plenty of pubs within short distance . This place obviously doesn't need or want the custom .

The pub is just off the main street so is easily missed. It had a lovely display of hanging baskets outside and s very attractive beer garden. It was let down a bit by being very quiet with very few customers and s landlord who did not engage at all and simply was glued to his phone for the whole of our visit It has a fish tank with some of the weirdest fish I have ever seen. It has a decent range of drinks including cask beers. Don't think it does food but it is residential so I assume it will do breakfast in the mornings

Never have I encountered such nice hosts as Sara and Rob. Our car broke down between Newcastle and Norfolk and we needed somewhere to stay overnight. Rob was there to take us in late at night and also feed us early the next morning. Sara took over afterwards and made us feel really at home and comfortable while we waited for a hire car. I really cannot express mine and my family's gratitude for looking after us so well when we were in a dire place. Also, rooms were nice and clean and breakfast was amazing (thanks Rob).
