Constructed in 1822 and called the Priory Hotel, this building has spent all its life serving food and drink - and some of it saving lives. Underground passages have been found which link the Priory Hotel to Portbury Monastery, suggesting that the monks would have used the premises to hide from persecution.
A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Voucher on Facebook for 50% off mains saved 4 of us £35. Meals good, but i thought the original price of £20 for my chicken meal was OVER PRICED. Pavlova was nice so were staff.
Poor showing from the Priory. Decided to take advantage of their food vouchers for January. Food quality was excellent as always but the service just wasn’t on par. Friendly enough staff but we felt like we were waiting too long once finished and being ignored. Long wait to clear the table. Staff walking past and not attending the table, no-one asked how the food was or if any further drinks were needed. After another wait we were given desert menus but then proceeded to serve tables around us and again revert back to ignoring us. Some tables had been served food before we had be asked for ours: started to grate on us considering the restaurant was empty when we arrived. We decided to leave without any deserts or further drinks and opted to finish off the Christmas cake back home. The restaurant wasn’t busy but the basic cycle of service was missing with limited interaction. Happy to go elsewhere and leave in a good mood. Such a shame.
The staff could not have been more polite welcoming and friendly making sure we felt comfortable. We were a party of five and all of us said the food was perfect brought out in a timely manner and cooked to perfection. Would definitely go there again !!
Excellent. Definitely second visit on the horizon. Grilled gammon with fried eggs and chunky chips- great! But no Worsted sauce. But taste is "each to one's own". Table service and server very attentive. Otherwise faultless.
We had the best waitress, so attentive and informative. We also loved the 50% off main meals as my birthday fell on a Tuesday which is normally really quiet out but it had a lovely buzz to the restaurant and didn't feel like a Tuesday night at all! Felt more like the weekend which I loved. Will definitely come back
