Parts of The George and Dragon date back to the fifteenth century and the Pub is steeped in character from its original beams to its Inglenook fireplace, it makes for a cosy, friendly and traditional village Pub.
We pride ourselves in the Home Cooked food we offer, we choose prime locally sourced ingredients and make some great traditional Homemade Pub fayre. We're famous for our Sunday Roasts too with our homemade Yorkshires and fresh seasonal vegetables combined with our slow roasted joints they make a great reason to stop by on Sundays.
We haven't forgotten the Vegetarians either, with a good selection to choose from we're the ideal destination for all the family.
For special occasions we have our function area at The Dragon Bar in the Barn where we can host any party or function no matter the occasion. With its built in projection services, this area is also a great place for Business meetings, courses and talks.
We're open seven days a week and serve food everyday both lunchtimes and evenings and we'd love to meet you sometime soon here at Thurton George!.

Lovely Sunday lunch here last Sunday with group of friends before Christmas. There is a full menu even on a Sunday but all 10 of us opted for the Sunday roast. There was a choice of three meats plus a nut roast option, also there was the choice of a small or large portion which is such a good idea for those people who cannot eat a large amount of food! Our reserved table was ready when we arrived and service was really quick to verify our orders. The food was really hot and a 'real home cooking' type of Sunday lunch, extremely tasty and plenty of it even for those of us who had opted for the smaller portion. A good dessert menu followed which we all indulged in! The atmosphere in the pub is so friendly, we had not been here before but staff and customers made us feel welcome, even during our noisy 'Secret Santa!' 😄 I would definitely return here, in fact we immediately rebooked for January!
We enjoyed an excellent meal here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. The food was reasonably priced, too. The pub seems to be well used by locals, always a good sign. The pub is wheelchair accessible and dog friendly. There is carparking close by.
Had a very lovely lasagne and served by some very kind staff. I've passed many times but never been in til now, will definitely be back 🙂 Thank you!
Not bad. A good place to stop off for a quick pint. I remember it being packed most night so it's hard to feel good about it when there were only 4 of us there. Likely not their fault with the economy etc... But a few small tricks could work too bring in more customers.
I went in for dinner with a friend, We couldn't fault it. Lovely home cooked pub food, welcoming staff in a cosy atmosphere. I will definitely be back again to try their winter menu.
