About us

The Marsh Harrier was originally known as The King of Prussia in 1840, when it was a small cafe with tea garden. The building was later run as an inn until war broke out in 1914 when its name was changed to the George IV. After a £1m refurbishment we changed our name to The Marsh Harrier to reflect our rural surroundings and proximity to the River Yare.

A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Whether you are planning dinner with friends or Sunday lunch with family, book a table online and enjoy some quality time with those you love the most.

Nice seating area, the bar area being dog friendly. A member of staff brought my dog a fresh bowl of water. I thought the menu was particularly varied, with something for everyone. All of the food I saw coming out of the kitchen looked great. Our food was hot and tasty, Very friendly bar staff. The place was clean and tidy. We will definitely go back.

My first visit to this pub and I was very happy. Food (from the festive menu) was cooked perfectly, especially the moist turkey and really tasty Yorkshire puddings and the generous portion sizes were really appreciated. Homemade soda drinks were amazing too. The service was a little slow at times but staff were friendly and accommodating. I will definitely revisit in the new year!

Went for a midweek lunch. Worth downloading the vintage inn app as we got 40% off our main meals. Guess this is why it was busy. Good variety on menu, all the usual, pie, fish and chips, burgers, pizza's, lasagne, salads etc. Quite an extensive wine list too. Booking was done on line which was very easy, received an email confirmation together with several reminders of my booking. Our party ordered lasagne, fish and chips and a burger. The fish was incredibly dry so we told one of the servers and he promptly took it away to be replaced. So whilst everyone else tucked in to theirs I had to wait for mine. Second time around and the fish was lovely and the food piping hot, so pleased I gave them the opportunity to correct it rather than just moan after the fact. So all in all everyone enjoyed their lunch and we would return (have another voucher for £20 off). Service was good, place was clean, nice roaring fire to welcome you in.

Arrived to find a very hectic restaurant. Waited to be shown to our dirty table sitting next to a rain dripping fire place. Old torn chair. Advised that 45 minutes for food. We should of left then. The food was tasteless and over priced. We waited 1.5 hours for main meal. They gave us £10 off the bill as a token. We won't be back. For the manager - don't over book tables and stack up the kitchen.
