The Black Boys Hotel is an imposing Grade II listed building in the centre of the historic market town of Aylsham. It is a popular pub, bar and restaurant and offers superb B&B accommodation in eight en suite guest bedrooms.
I can't really comment on rooms as we didn't stay however the food is fantastic. Went for Sunday lunch and couldn't fine a thing wrong with it. Meat cooked to perfection, great extras and the gravy was wonderful (and I'm picky about my gravy 🤦♀️). Service was friendly and prompt. One of the best roasts in the area. Thank you
Celebrated a pre-wedding drinks event here last night. Really dug both the pub and the marquee out back they hosted the event in. Service was great from Abby and her crew the entire the night. Stuck around for food and had the BEST scampi and chips I've had in the UK...proper whole prawns with light batter!
Excellent English pub with healthy portions, a delightful atmosphere, and outstanding service. Really a fun time. The ribs were absolutely enormous, and easily enough for two people. The venison was exceptional. Definitely not a bargain place, especially considering the USD to GBP exchange rate, but worth the investment.
Stayed here as a birthday weekend had a nice cosy room in the hotel. We arrived and had lunch which was a great and prompt service. In the evening they had the Christmas light switch on and the pub was heaving but we still got great service having our evening meal. There are good portions served here and would recommend you save yourself for lunch/dinner. Staff are very friendly and would return again.
Visited on a Friday evening after booking the day before for four people to celebrate my partners birthday. We're from out of area and received a warm greeting and had a nice corner table. Another couple were seated at a table alongside us and there wasn't quite enough room for one of them to sit down due to the layout of the tables. The service was really efficient. Orders for food and drink were taken at appropriate times and everything arrived promptly and well cooked. Drinks were ordered on one occasion, we thanked the girl for taking our order and the response was was 'Okay' as opposed to one of gratitude for the order. Maybe a minor thing but a little more attention to basic hospitality detail goes a long way in making guests feel appreciated. It is a busy venue and they do seem to have enough staff to attend to all diners. Food was of good quality and the menu is really very good. A large selection of items that you don't see on standard pub menus so excellent to be able to stray from normal pub fare. Ambience was that of a bustling restaurant. Although there was a lot of background noise from other diners, voices didn't need to be raised at our table in order to hold a conversation.
