Loved it. What a transformation! The locals should be thankful they have such a great pub when many are struggling@
Lovely pub - had a really nice Sunday roast and the most delicious chocolate cake for dessert which you must try! Really lovely atmosphere and dog friendly which is a bonus.
Popped in to have lunch on a Sunday. Sadly they don’t do a Sunday carvery but have a decent menu from which to choose. Not much in the way of options for vegetarians or vegans. I opted for the venison burger which was available. My first time eating venison oddly. Great burger, cooked well with all the usual toppings. Perhaps a little pricey at £15 but that’s the economy we now find ourselves in. Quirky pub with very colourful decor including the tables and chairs and bar front. Seating indoors as well as out front with plenty of free parking. For the burger and chips plus 2 pints of cider it was £26. Well worth a pop in if you’re in the area passing by or hiking.
What a hidden gem! Wandered in here on a whim during a lovely dog walk through Castle Acre - and so glad we did. The decor inside was probably the best I've ever seen for a pub. The main bar area was cool, clean and somehow managed to be both decadent and understated at the same time. The wine was excellent and there were loads of local brews available. The toilets were an absolute highlight... despite the warning that they were "under renovation" honestly I wouldn't change a thing about them. The writing on the walls and absolutely mental decoration was my fave thing about this place. We didn't drive but we saw a few who did, so I think there's car parking which is great. The only drawback is that the seating is all at the front of the pub next to the road. So if you're expecting a beer garden with the classic lawn situation, this ain't for you. However, frankly it really didn't matter to us - the road it's next to is super quiet, and there were loads of benches and dog water bowls available. The staff were awesome and we felt super welcome, like we'd wandered into a mate's house. 100% recommend this perfect little haven.
There is a fine line between quirky and tacky unfortunately the refurbishment to this traditional village pub has stepped over that line. It now resembles a city students bar rather than village pub in a picturesque norfolk village.
