About us

The Anchor is run by old school friends Harry Farrow and Rowan Glennie, who have carried out a complete refurbishment since taking over the pub in June 2011. Always keen on eating and drinking out, the pair had long dreamed of running their own pub, with their home of north Norfolk – rich in seafood, local game and ales – the perfect place to start their careers. And the Anchor in Morston, a small seaside village just along the coast from Blakeney and popular with yachtsmen and birdwatchers, the perfect country pub. We hope you find what you need on our website and we look forward to hosting you for dinner or a drink soon.

Insane portion sizes. Come with a hearty appetite. The fish and chips was delicious, with flaky insides and crisp batter. The ketchup was a different variety to your regular Heinz, which was a pleasant surprise. The Christmas burger and Steak are highly recommended as well. Try a battered Gherkin if you haven’t already! The interior is very comfortable, especially the red booths. The service could have been a bit more attentive in the beginning, especially considering our group size, but was otherwise fine. Will be coming back on my next walk from Blakeney.

Lovely spot, great building and overall, a nice feeling. Good style and different options for eating in the pub or dining room. Good drinks selection. Food was pretty average. Starters of calamari and halloumi were fried and it was obvious from frozen. The quality of the product very average. Chips came out cold and nasty…. Which were replaced on request. Is it hard to do chips well in a fish and chip restaurant?! Mussels were pretty good and advertised as local… hopefully they were. Perhaps expectations were too high…. Was hoping for far better quality food. Service was friendly.

Popped in on our way to Wells-next-the-Sea and had the best fish and chips I've ever had. The decor is of a very high standard as well. If you're ever in the area it's a must visit.

Friendly and welcoming traditional pub with a flagstone floor, low lighting and (slightly sticky) tables. There's a small range of lagers and ales on offer. The menu is mostly different types of fish and chips. If you sit in the restaurant the food comes on plates, if you sit in the bar it comes in cardboard boxes. The chips are very good but the highlight for us were the deep fried cadburys cream eggs! They are amazing!
