Went for sunday lunch for 2. No table reserved, but I would recommend it as others were turned away. Went for the trio meat sunday dinner, and it was amazing. Very well presented and good potions all round. The pigs in blanket are a must. A bit more gravy would have been nice. Excellent service from friendly staff. It's very well priced at around £15. Nice quiet, cossy environment. Will definitely visted again
Christmas meal was lovely but there were a few things which could be improved. I had prawn starter.They were in shells. A finger bowl or wet wipe would have been appreciated to clean fingers. We were not offered cranberry sauce for our turkey. We had ordered two extras which did not come. We asked for the one and got it but forgot we had ordered the other so did not ask for it but noticed we were charged on the bill so had to ask for it to be taken off the bill. We asked for a jug of water to go with the meal which we did not get. These are just small niggles which did not spoil the overall experience and the meal was excellent value overall. Car park entrance needs to be lit as was hard to spot when arriving and there needs to be more lighting in the car park.
This was the nicest Christmas dinner I've ever had in the run up to Christmas. The roast potatoes were crispy, the turkey succulent and even the pigs in blankets had good quality sausages. This was miles apart from the usual mass produced offering.We will definitely return. Their gluten free options were also fantastic.

Over priced food. I have eaten at many Greene King pubs but this was up there with one of the worst meals I’ve had. Very disappointed. It was supposed to be table service - obviously not this time. My partner and I sat there for 20 minutes before deciding to go to the bar to order our drinks. Clearly not enough staff or prioritising other / bigger parties. Service wasn’t great. Understaffed. For £16+ for a beef burger, you expect a very nice burger, but this wasn’t the case. The burger was greasy, fatty, chips very under cooked and no idea what the pot of cold sauce was which was serve with the burger, but definitely wasn’t anything to shout about. I will not recommend this place, and I shall not be returning to this pub.

Single bar village local set on the common near the nature reserve renowned for buterflies and moths. Seating around the fireplace and hearth one end, games the other.
