About us

This 600-year-old Tudor style inn with B&B lodging is a 4-minute walk from Gloucester Cathedral and a 5-minute walk from Gloucester Folk Museum.

The straightforward rooms (some with exposed beams and paneled walls) include en suite bathrooms, plus free WiFi, TVs, and tea and coffee making facilities. Family rooms are available.

There's a full English breakfast available, and the classic pub has 2 bars and offers a variety of world beers, real ales and a carvery. Other amenities include a relaxed cafe area and 2 function rooms.

Although we do not have our own car park, we recommend the Kings Walk shopping center car park, located just a 5 minute walk away.

Booked a room at The New Inn instead of the usual Premier Inn to try something new and because the room was cheaper than Premier Inn. Wish I had paid the extra! Good points: The New Inn itself is full of beautiful ye olde world charm with original wooden beams, crooked windows, uneven floors and a maze of corridors and doors. The room itself had a very low beam that even at 5ft 2 inches, my head could touch it! I felt like a giant! Bad points: The room I was given faced the covered courtyard (which sparkled with lights), which is part of the pub area. The pub was open late with karaoke until midnight. The window was single glazing and did not shut properly (part of the charm of an old building) which meant the noise of every badly sung note (and the good ones!), drinks being ordered, sad jokes and chat up lines plus the smoke from those taking a break from life drifted up into my room. This probably wouldn't have been so bad if the bed was comfortable. However, I felt like I had a bed that was as old as the Inn itself, with springs galore digging into me so much that I am inclined to book a chiropractor to help realign my back. The breakfast was the same price as Premier Inn but much lower in quality and quantity with the two saddest fried eggs I have ever seen. The vegetarian sausages cooked to order were practically inedible, dry and literally grey in flavour. The coffee was very disappointing. As I was packing, housekeeping walked into my room without even knocking. Overall, the New Inn itself is an amazing building in a great location but not worth the convenience, the money or back ache.

Review a only for the accommodation and property character. Didn't get to experience it's other amenities. Very nice property steeped in history. Would like to return to sample a fuller experience and staff interaction. If it's as welcoming as it's historic charm it will be a good return visit

Booked for two nights in a family room. Room adequate for what it was. But you couldn't beat the olde world charm. I think the room could have provided a leaflet about the Inn and the times breakfast dinner was served. Staff attentive and friendly. The last evening was spent in town having a couple if drinks the going back to the Inn as they had entertainment on. Duo, father and daughter, and was rather surprising entertainment. All in all a pleasant stay

Really nice exterior to this hotel. The building itself is really cool place to explore, the history of it is very interesting. We really liked it. All of the staff were very nice and welcoming. The beds were comfy but the sheets were super thin and worn. My only suggestion to this hotel is to invest a little bit of money into linen, that would go a long way in terms of making guests feel a little more comfortable. That said I would recommend this hotel for the price.

We choose to stay here to be Central to Gloucester and the bars as we were celebrating a birthday. I had booked one double and one twin room. We didn't arrive untill around 8.30pm as we had been out celebrating but this was no problem for the staff for us to check in. The rooms were lovely and clean. The hotel itself had such amazing vibes. we really loved that old traditional feel. Although the corridors felt like we were in that horror film with the twin girls in the long narrow hallway. As a horror film lover we loved the feel of it. We loved how the hallway were so old and crooked. We went to the bar at 8.45 where they had Karaoke - fantastic for my 9 year old who was able to do one quick song before having a bite to eat before bed. We only had light bites (chicken strip's, chips and my daughter had a kids Burger meal) as we had been out for a big family meal but what we did have was lovely. Unfortunately we had arranged to meet family the next morning for breakfast so we left by 10am and didn't get to try their breakfast but the restaurant looked lovely and we had heard good reviews on the breakfast also. we liked the fact the check out was at the later time of 11am even though we didn't make use of the lay in. The location for us was perfect as we went to a few local bars and it was all within a short walking distance This will certainly be our go to hotel next time we are in Gloucester. Thank you to all the staff for being friendly and helpful. Just wish we were around longer as it literally was just for us to put our head down for the night. But next time we will certainly be around for longer, it was just a crazy busy weekend or us. But thanks again for making us feel so welcome xxx
