About us

From the largest to the smallest appetite, we are sure to have something to tickle your fancy more than Doddie’s tickling stick.

Our breakfasts are world famous (well, in our minds anyway!) and closley followed by our great value carvery available every Sunday . Then we can also use our restaurant to the fullest extent allowing us to cater for functions up to around 100 peeps.

There’s no charge for hire of the restaurant if food is taken and we can tailor a menu to your likes more than Saville Row!.

Unfriendly, rude scruffy southerner serving behind the bar presumably the landlord. We called in for drinks because we used this pub in the past. Big mistake this time as it was almost an inconvenience us being there. The man was behind the bar wearing a scruffy jumper covered in pet hairs and grunted throughout the drinks order. He then came to our table and started to arrange the position of our drinks because we didn’t have them on beer mats. The lady who worked behind the bar seemed more pleasant but the scruffy man had set the tone so we only stayed for one drink as we felt so uncomfortable there. Won’t be back anytime soon.

Great place, on the canal. Very dog friendly. Great food, great drink, great staff. Will visit again!

For a place with a captive audience (hmmm ... maybe that's why), this place manages to be unfriendly and soulless. The food was distinctly average, and we got the feeling that the staff were doing us a favour by letting us eat and drink there. It's a shame, as the location is wonderful.

A friendly pub found down a little lane.. Parking outside is chargeable but free to punters. Do give your registration to the bar. Accommodation is available.. This pub is right next to the water and lovely scenic canal walks are available. There is a garden outside. Tescos is 10 minute walk away. This pub is very dog friendly. Food was served quickly and efficiently. Great for a hearty bite to eat !!

Excellent location right next to the canal. Lots of customer parking. Lots of indoor outdoor and outdoor covered seating available. Good menu to choose from with the Sunday carvery being particularly nice with very large portions and lots of variety to choose from so far as the sides are concerned. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would 100% go again on a visit to the area.
