Today you will find all the sought-after qualities of the traditional Inn combined with internationally inspired food and quality accommodation. You can find us on the Welcome to Yorkshire accommodation directory.
The Nag’s Head has been owned and managed by the Boynton family since 1972 and is now run by Edward and Janet.
We are proud to hold 2 prestigious AA rosettes; an incredible achievement given that there are only around 10% of restaurants nationwide that are of a standard worthy of One Rosette and above. We are also delighted to be included in The Good Hotel Guide. See our ‘Awards’ page for more information.
While retaining the very best of the old, the facilities at The Nags Head have beensubtly enhanced to meet the expectations of the discerning modern visitor.
The Nag’s Head comes as close as an inn can come to being all things to all men and women. It is a feasting and meeting place for families, clubs and business people, a friendly local pub serving real ales and a superb restaurant where the atmosphere is relaxed whilst the service is impeccable.
The food is wide ranging in its diversity yet consistent in its quality and is complemented by an excellent and comprehensive wine cellar, the province of Edward Boynton.
Pickhill village is mentioned in the Domesday Book and its ancient church features an architecturally rare archway. The two hundred year old Nag’s Head is a direct descendant of the country coaching inn tradition and embodies all the attractions and values of its lineage – a warm bed for the weary traveller, genuine hospitality, traditional décor and a welcoming atmosphere.
Over the years, an extensive programme of activities and services for the pleasure of every type of visitor has been introduced. From tourists to local families, conference delegates to sports clubs, wedding parties to walkers there really is something for everyone.

Lovely food and friendly staff with great service. We go quite regularly
Excellent food, great selection, and great staff. Tried the taste menu and was not disappointed. You get to choose 2 half portions (large half portions, too) and rice from the taster menu for £17.00. Will be returning.
This is a little off the beaten track so to speak, in a small village, so it is about a 15 minute drive from where we live, but it is well worth the drive. The food has always been great, not a cheap takeaway but a quality chinese. The staff are friendly and the takeaway is always ready when we turn up to collect it. We always phone our order in, so we don't have to wait. Highly recommended.
Fantastic Cantonese restaurant. Always a good meal whether dining in or taking away. Dined in this occasion for an 18th birthday celebration and was exceptional.
Very friendly service and a nice meal for a family of 4. Perhaps the restaurant could do with refreshing as it seemed dark and lacking atmosphere. We didn't stay in the B and B so not sure what it's like, there were several B and B guests in the restaurant though.
