We have eight comfortable guest rooms and a self-contained cottage that can house up to 16 people. A highlight is a cosy sitting room for the exclusive use of guests, which has comfy chairs, its own fireplace and an honesty bar.
Inside the pub, there are plenty of snugs and intimate corners to settle with a relaxing drink. Our restaurant serves award-winning British cuisine (we have 2 AA rosettes and a Breakfast Award) with a modern twist using fresh, local ingredients.
We are located in Cranborne Chase, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where Mother Nature provides a playground of ancient woodlands and chalk river valleys perfect for walking, cycling, riding, fishing and shooting.

Had to wait 40 minutes for the food to arrive we asked for the beef to be well done it came medium rare so our dog had a lovely dinner. Only 3 veg carrot halved kale and a massive parsnip all of which was like warm the roast potatoes were like leather obviously kept warm under a light bulb. The staff were great we didn't complain as we won't return . Excepted better had better locally.
I was recommended The Museum as a great place to take my husband for his birthday dinner. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was really fabulous - it encapsulates the British pub vibe. The food was also really good but perhaps we ate too much “deep fried” elements off the menu. The only thing I didn’t enjoy about the meal was the scampi - nowadays it’s hard to find the good old breaded whole tail including crispy tail, rather than little rectangles of “produced for the masses” scampi that is served. Excellent espresso martinis too to finish off the meal. All in all a lovely evening.
I stayed a night at The Museum Inn recently and was very well taken care of. My room was comfortable and well furnished and tea and coffee facilities were way above average with freshly ground coffee and herbal teas on offer. Toiletries were great and included a lavender pillow spray. Dinner was served promptly and was delicious. Breakfast was possibly the nicest I have been offered on a bed and breakfast basis. Options included Eggs Benedict / Royale / Florentine and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on sourdough toast and made choosing difficult! Service was uniformly good, professional and friendly. All in all a great experience.
I used to visit Farnham regularly as a child and had never been to the Museum Inn before, am very pleased to say I did recently (30 years later!). My wife & I were seated quickly, and the service was fantastic. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and are considering a stay in the future. Even if you're not staying, I'd recommend this as a place to eat, the food was absolutely superb!
My mum and I came to The Museum Inn for dinner. It was a Friday evening and the pub was extremely busy but we were greeted with a smile and very warm welcome. We were shown to a quiet table in the snug. The meal we both had was exceptional. I have to mention the service was outstanding, the lady in charge was very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble, her and her staff were calm and didn't rush us even though they were so busy. We would definitely return and maybe for a stay next time. I would highly recommend. Thank you.
