Worst hotel stay ever. Didn't get to sleep at all with all the drunk people shouting, fighting, blasting until late this morning. They provided you with earplugs but you can still hear the noise. Having the earplugs in for so long irritated our ears this morning. The bedsheets and duvet was very itchy probably not been washed for awhile. Breakfast set at 9am, but tables not cleaned and not setup. Food/drinks not refilled. We had to clean and setup our own table. One girl said she slept in. Good for her. We ddint get any sleep at all. Another girl promised 2mins to get our food out, 10mins later were still waiting. When she came back, she had a different excuse saying something wrong happened in the kitchen, I told her it's a lie as someone already told us she slept in. It just ruined our whole day. We are demanding a full refund.
Room 9 was ok, clean and comfortable with WiFi TV however situated directly above one of the pub doors and a taxi office. Single glazing meant that it was impossible to sleep until two o'clock in the morning (note that ear plugs were provided in the room but useless). Unfortunately at breakfast we discovered staff had slept in and some guests had been waiting 1.5 hours.
Lovely old hotel working very hard to reach high standards and almost succeeding. It's far better than the reviews we read. Great room, very helpful staff, loads of perks, absolute bargain.
Well I think so long as you are brave then give it a go. Its cheap. Needs updating badly and there was lots of issues with our room. Cracked sink in the bedroom. No hand basin in toilet. Broken shower door along with water not draining away in shower and the edge of tray held in parts with tape. Just not a good Scottish experience. You don't need issues like this after such a long drive. Would not recommend.
