Turned away on a Sunday afternoon by the bartender who announced that every table was booked and unavailable, even though there were empty tables near the bar and one near the sofa. They certainly were not full but the young man was adamant and declared that we should try one of the many other cafes nearby. We live locally and just popped in for some drinks and perhaps a side of chips. I spotted a small table, at the front, and said we're happy to sit there but the bartender said it was booked for customers arriving in 45 minutes! Seriously! I got the impression they just didn't want to serve any more customers. Anyhow, we popped in the Velo for a lovely half an hour and on the way home went to the Moorfields to view the situation. This time the sofa was free, as were several other tables. We're making an effort now to avoid the Moorfields!
Came here for a works Christmas meal. The starters and mains were fantastic. The Christmas pudding was smaller than I expected. The sticky toffee pudding looked incredible. Really good selection of drinks too. I would recommend.
Beautiful pub for the locals. Attend for a wake, the pub delivered a Beautiful spread of flat breads, pigs in blankets, mac & cheese bites lots to choose from. Beautiful decor and lovely atmosphere. Parking limited at the pub and appear to need a permit in the surrounding area. We risked it and parked on the side of the Rd away.
Wonderful experience for a roast dinner. We came to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday. We were served by Elizabeth (that was the name on our receipt!) and she was warm and witty. The roasts were excellent, extremely flavourful meats and veg, delicious gravy and wonderfully crisp Yorkshire pudns. As the meat was "real" I would have preferred sharper knives (maybe steak knives?) to cut with so we could easily slice through the sinew and fat which is normal in proper meat. I didn't mind eating it although I know some people might be fussy about it, but it was just such a task to cut through with the cutlery on the tables. Portions were generous, especially the pork and chicken. Drinks were lovely, great to see non-alcoholic cocktails and unusual cocktails. Puddings were very good though not many of us could manage one! It was a shame the birthday girl didn't get a candle in her pudding which I had requested when booking, but otherwise it was a really great celebration.
Lovely pub lunch on Saturday afternoon - a very pleasant, tidy, cosy & well renovated pub. I ordered the spiced veggie & bean burger - it was totally delish! Hubby ordered cajun chicken burger & was also very happy about his choice!
