It’s wonderfully quaint with a double helping of old-fashioned hospitality. Nothing seems too much trouble and you are made to feel very welcome.
Inside there are open fires and stunning old beams and outside there is a fantastic beer garden with breathtaking views. The Mitre serves delicious home-cooked traditional meals all week (Mon-Sun) at lunch and teatime and a fabulous roast with all the trimmings on a Sunday lunchtime. We love this pub for its olde worlde charm, great food and friendly atmosphere.
Slow service when short staffed , very average food , beers ok TT weeks inability to make the most out of the extra trade , only pub in the village disappointed, but beer is good and locals are friendly not changed was same 2022 -2023
We have stayed in the bungalow across the road from the Mitre on four different occasions recently and have had an excellent welcome and great meals there. Alan and his staff go out of their way to make your visit relaxing. Nothing is too much trouble. Thank you very much.
Not a bad spot to park up and watch the racing. Extensive menu for such a small pub but don't expect Michelin star grub as it's not that type of place. Outside benches mean you can watch racing in comfort and trees in garden offer protection if the weather decides not to play ball.
Visited on 30th August, the welcome was awful, the bar staff were miserable, no beer available, we accepted that as the GP just ended, ordered food, fish was very greasy, chips were inedible, left most of it. No one asked how food was. Definitely will not be visiting again
It's Ok, families welcome. The pub shares the same owners as the The Queens in Douglas, so it shares the same menu, which is typical pub grub: fish and chips, chicken shnitzel, ham and eggs, burger and chips etc. There are some specials, which obviously vary. During our visit these included an appetising sounding seabass fillet and an extra large lamb and mint pie, which I opted for. The pie was a suet based, which is my favourite pie casing, with lovely lamb chunks in tasty gravy, with very nice mint sauce, sweet garden peas and home made chunky chips. Being picky, the pie case was a bit dry and it would have been nice to have a bit more filling, so it was a bit mediocre. Which is not unusual for identikit pub fare. That said, the dish was more than I could handle, so full marks for a decent sized portion. The pub itself is nice and welcoming, with a modern interior. It was nice to be welcomed with my family in tow and other families were equally welcomed. Waiting time for food was average, so no issues about starving while it's being cooked. Friendly staff, reasonable beer selection, decent parking and beer garden at the front. Overall marks, 7/10.

There is lovely warm atmosphere and you really feel like you could settle in for the day quite happily. This is a fantastic pub to watch the TT races from.

The Ginger Hall is instantly recognizable by its colour. Inside the welcoming one room bar area, there is a real fire in colder months and an impressive beer engine dominating the bar. The beer engine dispenses Moorhouses and local Ales.
