A traditional Scottish pub with a good atmosphere and old photos on the wall to look at. Always good fun to go in here before a game at murrayfield … if you can get in!
The Roseburn has been a pub since the 1880s. A lot of the original fixtures remain. It consists of the public bar, the lounge and the jug bar or fly half. The public bar is split into 3 sections by partitions, these sections are called trap1, trap2 and trap3. Each trap is like a different pub in itself with many customers sticking to certain areas, this can lead to some healthy rivalry. Many moons ago women were only allowed in the jug bar, they were served through a hatch leading from the bar, there was no female toilet!.
Great bar. Helped a stranded and cold bus driver out with a hot brew and a toasties. Whilst I wait on the recovery wagon.
Proper pub, good selection of beer and spirits. Plenty real ales. Good service. No pfaff! If you just want a nice drink with your mates this is the place.
Proper pub! First crossed the threshold in 1981 when I briefly lived on Kew Terrace! Always try and call in when back in the neighbourhood. Photos: James Bond entry to Roseburn and my old 'Bedsit'....
We arrived arrived too early. As the bar was quiet the staff were busy chatting amongst themselves rather than serve. However, always a good pint of Guinness and a catch up with fellow Scotland supporters.
sticky floor, good beer selection if you like IPA, be aware how busy it gets after rugby games
