Well worth the wait! Sit downstairs and enjoy a drink while you wait for a table up stairs. We went with traditional meals and dessert and they were delicious, the service was fantastic and the price was reasonable. Highly recommend having a meal and a drink here.
Very nice atmosphere: very warm and festive. Lively without being overwhelming. Mulled wine was quite nice: not too sweet and with a particular balance of spices. Exactly what we needed after a few hours spent outside with a cold wind. Staff was very kind. There was no table available and so we were given a buzzer to be notified when one would have come free. Unfortunately the menu was missing 7-8 courses, 3 of which being exactly what we were thinking to order. We would have liked to know that before sitting at the table. We weren't therefore left with too many options that were suitable for us considering the plans we had for the night. We went for a mix of small platters. The baked Camembert was quite tasty. It was the first time for me to eat it with jam and quite liked it. I found instead the chunky chips to be just meh. Even adding salt didn't add much flavor. The sauce on the sauce didn't help either. The broccoli were very undercooked for my taste. The portion of garlic schiacciata was surprisingly small: 3 very thin and small sliced in total for 4.5 GBP.
A historic pub. Went there for an experience with family. Nice food, very nice environment. Never miss a chance to visit this place at least once.
A great central location on the Royal Mileā¦ to kick back and unwind with either a nice cold beer (on their main floor) or a warm meal (on their second floor). A favourite amongst tourists and locals alike, its history is intriguing to say the least.
Our first dining experience in Scotland kicked off at Deacon Brodies Tavern, and it certainly left a lasting impression. Their hospitality was exceptional; they seated us by the window with a picturesque view of the Royal Mile, a thoughtful touch we didn't even request. We were particularly grateful for the care shown to our daughter, who has a nut allergy. The waitress handled her dietary needs with great attention, double-checking our orders to ensure her safety and enjoyment of the meal. Now, let's talk about the food. The seafood platter was a standout. It boasted impeccable freshness and flavor, and the seasoning was spot on. It easily ranks as one of the best meals we had during our visit to Scotland.
