About us

The Metropolitan was formerly a grand Victorian railway hotel is now enjoying a new life as a fabulous bar and restaurant. Full of style and character, its success is built on a quality product served by friendly and professional staff.

Enjoy food freshly prepared and locally sourced in our airy Conservatory Dining Room or treat yourself to breakfast or an afternoon coffee & cake in the traditional homely atmosphere of the Library, with it’s real wood fires and books. Whatever the occasion we have a space to suit including a private room, perfect for business meetings, social groups and birthdays. We’re family friendly and children are welcome in the bar until 8pm.

The bar has an exciting range of spirits, a great choice of changing cask ales and exceptional wines including a large selection by the glass. Barista coffees and whole leaf teas are complimented by a selection of local handmade cakes

In Summer, the sunny beer garden with it’s outside bar and pizza kitchen is a great place to eat, meet or relax. The outside kitchen provides fresh stonebaked pizzas and the bar has a vast choice of cold beers and refreshing ciders. There’s plenty of outdoor seating, complete with heaters for the cooler evenings and a huge outdoor canopy is perfect for Manchester’s rainy days. Dogs are welcome in this outside area.

Open all day, every day, come and make friends with The Metropolitan.

The food has gone down hill, along with the number of staff to support the covers. The staff are actually very good and are doing their best, but I've seen this place much better. The new advertising screens and the app that doesn't work properly does nothing for the customer experience. This used to be the type of place you could take anyone to, but I took my dad there recently and was embarrassed by the quality standard. The met is an institution so will attract businesses by itself for time, but I hope the senior leaders do something to steer it back to glory.

First time in Manchester, now I can’t wait to go back! The food was amazing. The staff was super sweet. We had a great time. The duck was my absolute favorite.

Disappointing. It’s Wetherspoons quality at double the price. Hunters Chicken poorly presented, 3 random onion rings, everything else in bowls, with a sad looking side salad. Service slow, tables not cleared when other diners left.

Great pub, love dog friendly. Food OK albeit small portions but I like food. The waitress didn't know the difference in her food which was awkward and showed either she is new or incompetent or both.

Had an absolutely delightful lunchtime, dining experience here. Homemade steak pie, really delicious, came with a wonderfully rich sauce. Thick cut chips & perfectly cooked vegetables. Excellent, very friendly service , reasonably priced. Should also mention, first time visit & it's an absolutely stunning interior , full of character & charm. Also a wealth of outdoor seating for the recent warmer weather. All in all highly recommend a visit.
