Liverpool cocktail bar Berry & Rye is a prohibition-themed Scouse bar that has been put together with great attention to detail. It is comfortable, relaxed, stylish and plush, so if you’re planning on visiting for a special occasion, do it.
The bartenders dress smart, are knowledgeable and have an envious stash of cocktail recipes stored in their minds.
It’s quite easy to walk past Berry & Rye, which is hidden on Berry Street in Liverpool, but once you find it, you’ll discover a bar filled with jazz, blues and more gin cocktails than you can shake a stick at.
To get in, knock on the door – which is unnamed – and you’ll be shown through by a doorman. There’s a restriction on the number of people allowed in, so don’t be too disheartened if you get turned away or are asked to wait. On that note, it might be a good idea to make a reservation.
You’ll find a dim, yet classy, environment awaits you when you enter the main bar area.
The menu is split into seven parts, including Bright & Floral, Herbal & Savoury and Sparkling Cocktails.
Drinks include the El Senador, made using Gran Patron Burdeos, Cocchi Americano, Grand Marnier 1880, Cuvee, grenadine and orange bitters.
Or you could go for a Luchador’s Inferno from the Spicy selection which is made using habanero-infused Sombra Mezcal, Drambuie and house orange bitters.

My favourite place in Liverpool. Loved the live piano music. The waitress was excellent. Cocktails are great. Nice atmosphere.
A little tricky to find the entrance but you just have to knock. Nice Speakeasy with good cocktails and staff. Highly recommend!!
A hidden Bar, expensive but the quality is outstandingly high, very knowledgeable staff. The lady who served was very helpful and perfectly happy to direct newcomers. Having a locked door policy is a very good idea it keeps the rabble out. So only people in the know know how to get in.
Amazing venue. We joined the short queue and waited around 15mins until we could go in. It's well worth the wait. We were taken to a pair of stools near the bar which was set for us. There was a welcome drink each and 2 glasses of water. The welcome drink was amazing, unfortunately I can't remember the name. The drinks menu is hidden inside a book, the first part of the menu is cocktails, some classic cocktails and some unusual ones. I've There's a large selection of whiskey and gin on the menu. We visited during January, the menu also had a large selection of non alcoholic cocktails. We had 4 cocktails and each was amazing, mixed to perfection. The prices ranged from about £8 to £11 for a cocktail.
