Melville Castle sits to the south of the Inn. This three-storey gothic styled castellated house has recently been restored. It replaced an earlier tower house built by Henry Dundas, the first Viscount Melville. A mile to the east of the Melville Inn are ancient fortification mounds known as Sheriff's Hall where there has long stood an old house in which George Buchanan is said to have written the "History of Scotland".

We came here for dinner and I can’t recommend this place enough. Great food, great service. We had Ryan serving us and he’s a very jovial and affable lad. Very attentive. Our chef was Kayla and we had zero complaints with any of the courses. Will definitely visit again,
Our server Ryan was attentive without hovering, friendly and professional. The food was lovely, we had calamari, steak and a pudding each. The crumble was especially nice. We'll definitely be back.
I particularly enjoyed dining in the restaurant; Cameron was an excellent waiter! Thanks Cameron for the beautiful time and the great conversations and being an excellent host!!! On another note, the room cleaners could do a better job with cleaning used cups and cutleries, I wasn’t particularly impressed with how they poorly cleaned them.
My family had our now traditional Christmas Eve Xmas meal at the Melville Inn a few days ago. Food was excellent. Service was fantastic (special shout out to Michael). Great table by the fire. Highly recommended. We’ll be back in 2024!
This place is excellent. Had Outstanding steak and sticky toffee was best I’ve had. Partner had the ale pie - also great. Really good - much better than expectations for a place like this. Hang onto that chef. Waiting staff friendly too. In fact going back tonight
