This Victorian pub was built in the 1860's and catered for the thirsty cement workers and quarry men who then lived in the village. Those days are now gone and the cement works are a distant memory, but the pub - as ever - remains an important focal point for many villagers.
Because of its location the pub is popular with walkers and cyclists, who use it as a convenient resting place when exploring the Kent countryside and the north downs.

First visit to this pub and it's lovely inside and lovely and clean. Food was excellent as was the service. Thoroughly recommend.
Lovely food, very nice pub which is well maintained. Would highly recommend. Scampi and chips in a basket was very tasty
A lovely welcoming local pub. Drinks and food are really reasonable. Lots of choices in drinks, inc non alcoholic.
Just managed to get a seat for 2 for Sunday lunch as we were passing. Very friendly staff, even though they were fully booked, they managed to find a seat for 2. Didn't have long to wait for the food roast lamb and roast pork food was good temperature to eat, it was fresh and tasty and a good portion. Definitely be back, but I will book especially for a Sunday. The bonus was early bird before one you get 25% off and if you become a member you get money of in the week
Found this gem of a pub after a day’s hiking on the North Downs Way. Wasn’t expecting much on a Monday, but found a modern, beautifully decorated pub filled with locals, and with a great menu. Superb.
