Mc & Sons is a traditional old Irish pub set in the heart of Southwark. It’s a place for community to come and socialise in a friendly authentic environment with great service, traditional Thai food and a fantastic beer selection.
It is built on the memories and lives of the Mc Elhinney’s with their heritage adorning the walls with pictures of the family through the generations. Wander in and you might even find a member of the family itself propping up the bar, or pulling a pint. Mc & Sons is a simple, honest pub for hard-working locals and commuters alike to step inside and back in time. Down a small side street between Blackfriars Road and Borough, those that stumble upon it might feel like they’re in Maynooth itself. Inside it’s an eclectic mix of Thai Street food and authentic snugs, a back street gem to while away an afternoon or evening catching up with friends and family.
One of the best pubs in London. Always a great atmosphere, welcoming and local vibe. Very good service at all times. Thai food is a good deal at lunch times too.
I love certain things in a pub. A warm atmosphere, wood panelling and classic Guinness are three of these things. And this pub has them all. If you don't like this place, you don't like pubs.
Truly one of the best. Intimate and friendly, beautiful design and atmosphere, and great Thai food and drinks - highly recommend!
🚇 Southwark 🍺 £5.60 Pravha ❤️ A traditional Irish owned pub that mixes Irish hospitality with the flavours of Thailand. . Nearest tube stations are Southwark and Borough, both are a five minute walk. . The building is Victorian with a gorgeous dark green facade and beautiful detailing around the upper windows. . The interior of this pub has an authentic Irish charm about it. The walls are adorned with family portraits, memorabilia and photographs of Irish life. This is a good size pub which has beautiful woodwork throughout. At the a front of the pub is a wonderful snug complete with a drinks hatch and there is also a beer garden at the rear. . The beer choice is full of well known favourites and the Guinness here is well celebrated. My tipple was a pint of Pravha which was great and under six quid. The food here is Thai and like the Guinness, reviews are very good. . I visited on a Saturday lunchtime and the pub was quiet which was impart due to the rail strike that was on that day. There were a couple of tourist groups in from both Japan and America and also some local punters too. I had a little chat with one of the staff, he was a top fella and very personable. . Lots of positives to report from @mcandsonslondon . This backstreet gem really lived up to its billing and offers a great pub experience. Absolutely fantastic thai food, probably the best I’ve had this year, but the staff were even more lovely than the food! Super friendly, made the whole experience six ⭐️. I’m so sad they don’t do deliveries, but the food was so good I had to go again for lunch today (£7 for a box, 12-3pm) - it did not disappoint. The draft beers are also very refreshing. Would definitely be going back (again) soon! For a group of 2-6 friends: would recommend booking the small room-ish area next to the till. Very quiet and very cozy.
