Magnificent brick built, solid, detached, Victorian Sam Smiths pub of 1899, the interior is also a magnificent example of a Victorian multiroom pub, although recently and sympathetically decorated. To the left on entering the tiled hallway is the main bar room, to the right a sitting room which is like a domestic sitting room equipped with pub furniture. Behind is another bar room and beyond that a small sitting room with darts board. Open fires in both main rooms, the furnishing and d├ęcor is very traditional with some splendid photographs of old Knaresborough and the River Nidd and its gorge.
