It was looking nice when we booked it. A nice castle in a park in the north of Scotland. But what a bad surprise when the reception announced us that we are the Lodge at the entrance of the park, bathroom outside our room :(. And it was awful, dirty, and old. The restaurant was closed and only the breakfast was decent
The Mansion is stunning architecturally. Inside it is a little worn and does require a little touching up. Nothing modern but simple touch up, carpet & paint. Beds are comfy but getting into the tub is suicidal. The floor slopes down quite a bit so be warned. The staff is great and friendly. The breakfast is delicious. Only real is issue is the time staff is available. I needed a tow at 7.30 am no staff was around even after ringing the bell. After 10pm the staff is gone and no one is around so you feel like your creeping around someone's home. Side note, the location is beautiful, but don't mind the apartment buildings next door.
A very nice stylish Manor house close to the town, with a supermarket pretty much next door. Stayed one night for work purposes, had a very relaxing stay and a quiet nights sleep. Breakfast was spot on, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. This is also first hotel I've stayed at which provided hot plates. ( I swear by piping hot food ) Overall I would definitely recommend. Well done guys!
The gentleman at the front desk was friendly. Our shower was broken and partially removed with a piece of plumbing sticking up and leaning over with a handwritten sign not to try to use it. The bathroom floor felt unsafe in this area, as though it may give way. There was a tub/ shower on the opposite wall. The full tester bed was gorgeous, although the my husband felt the mattress was a bit worn and lumpy (that could simply indicate a feather topper). I would have toned down some of the red, especially in the crushed velvet of the sofa., but it is still a beautiful room. The first floor architecture was beautiful but unfortunately the furniture arrangement made it overcrowded, as it seemed set up ( probably trying to promote personal conversation groupings) made the flow awkward and overcrowded. Some of the furnishings did not compliment well with the historical period. The ‘leather’ sofas were worn in a very bad way. The center foyer table should be moved to a different area and the tablecloth and artificial flowers removed. (I left that out of the pictures.) This building exterior is absolutely beautiful!!! The restaurant within the hotel was closed at the time of our visit. They have a large billiard room and size of the space in each room make this property a good choice for groups! This BEAUTIFUL property has great potential, but is somewhat of a work in progress! The new owner just put on a new roof and is making repairs (such as the bath) as quickly as possible!
