It might initially feel a little basic on the inside but the range of drinks on offer is incredible, with lots of unique options too, and admiring the great range of beer mats on the ceiling is a real treat. It’s not overly large so getting a table can be difficult but the atmosphere is nice enough. Very steep steps take you downstairs to the toilets which remind you of the history of the place but with the friendly staff and crowd I’d happily return.

We walked the city for a while on Christmas Day until we found this bar. It served an absolutely delicious first and chips. It was packed but it had some seats on the ground floor. The bar is local and we could see on a normal day that this is where the locals would gather and they do have a wider collection of food. Would come here again during a normal day (non PH!)

The most memorable and best times are usually those you don’t plan on having. Exactly that kind of time is what we enjoyed at this establishment. We needed somewhere to eat and a warm place to duck into. We found this small, unassuming pub in a back alley ready to accommodate those needs. On the first floor is the quintessential pub with a few standing tables, booths, and a large bar area. Upstairs is a more intimate slightly small dinning area with a cozy fireplace. The wait and kitchen staff are very kind. First, we were the only dinners upstairs and the waiter came and lit the fireplace just for us, no request necessary. Both staff accommodated my son who is a very picky eater. When I say they both accommodated him I mean the waitress helped tailor his want, and the chef came out to our table to ask if there was anything else he could do to spice up the dish to my son’s liking. Great people! The food was delicious! The fish and chips were huge, even the chips were as thick as the fish. The kitchen prepared my son’s hamburger perfectly. After living in Spain for so long we forgot what it was like to have a fully cooked hamburger and all the ketchup you could eat (it’s the small things in life you know). After we were done with our meal, we wanted to rest and play uno awhile as a family, and the staff kindly obliged. Overall, this was a delicious place filled with great staff that took care of us both physically and emotionally. If you’re from out of town and need a pub fix, in my opinion, there’s no place better than The Lyric. Enjoy!

🚇Piccadilly Circus 🍺 £6.20 Budvar ❤️ A friendly and welcoming beer lovers paradise. The Lyric is located on Great Windmill Street at the southern end of vibrant Soho. The nearest Tube is Piccadilly Circus which is a three minute walk away. In 1739 there were two separate pubs present here, The Ham and The Windmill. By 1811 the two had merged to become the Ham & Windmill. The name was changed to the Lyric Tavern in 1890 and the pub was re-built in its current form in 1906. The pub sits opposite what was The Red Lion where in 1847 Karl Marx submitted proposals for writing the Communist Manifesto. This is a two room pub that has the main bar on the ground floor with a cosy room set aside for dining upstairs. The decor here is traditional and has that unique Soho pub feel to it. The walls are painted a pale green to make the pub feel light and spacious. The servery is compact, well stocked and has an ornate back bar. Across the ceiling are hundreds of pump clips and beer mats of beers that have graced the pumps here. There are also some beautiful features throughout the pub, the tiled entrance, the etched windows and two period fireplaces. The beer selection here is vast, there are ten cask ales, three cask ciders and twenty keg options to choose from. I decided on a pint of Budvar, my pint was excellent, price point was average. The food menu is full of pub classics plus a selection of Pizza’s and Burgers. Roasts are available on a Sunday, Fish & Chips costs £16.95. I visited around 3pm on a Friday afternoon in early November. The pub had a dozen or so punters in attendance, the atmosphere was relaxed and laidback. The service was fantastic, I got chatting to a few of the team who were all welcoming, friendly and personable. @thelyricpub is a cracking little pub that is warm and welcoming. The beer lovers among you will love this place with 33 taps to choose from. The setting is atmospheric and traditional, the service was friendly and personable. I really enjoyed my visit here, definitely a must visit if you’re in this part of town. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 03.11.23

We - family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids - had a Sunday lunch at the Lyric and we definitely enjoyed it. Nice atmosphere, very good food (glad we had the opportunity to experience the Sunday roast) good beer and friendly stuff. The upper room has a nice fireplace which makes the atmosphere cozy. Hope to come back again soon, highly recommended!
