Great, traditional beer pub which makes it a gem because they're increasingly rare.
Cask has gone downhill past few visits. Not the same standard compared to when LBC took over initially. Bar staff are slow (Saturday evening) too busy checking own phones rather than serving. Manager sat other side of the bar watching this all going on while having a pint.
The Lower Angel is always a warm and inviting environment, with good music and good company. They have a rotation of ales that are listed on their chalkboards. They also have a good selection of spirits, ciders and lagers. The décor and atmosphere takes you back in time, especially with some of the older marketing materials still on display as curiosities. They have a selection of board games in the pub too, I believe that they at least have a set or two of dominos, so there's things there if you need a nice distraction away from a phone. As a final aside, they also have a beer garden, which is lovely to sit in on a sunny day.
Great traditional pub with loads of character. Features at least 6 great quality cask ales. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Warrington and like your beer
