🚇 Tooting Bec 🍺 £5.00 Guinness ❤️ A superb local Irish boozer. . The Mayfair Tavern is located at the side of the old Mayfair Cinema on Upper Tooting Road. The nearest tube is Tooting Bec which is a five minute walk away. . The Mayfair Cinema opened its doors in 1932 and was a popular fixture on Tooting’s social scene. Like lots of it counterparts, falling attendances meant the cinema closed its doors in 1979, the last film that graced the silver screen here was “Force 10 From Navarone”. The cinema is now used as an islamic cultural centre. . This is simply decorated Irish boozer that has everything you need for a visit to the pub. As you enter there is a pool table with a jukebox on the right hand side. Along the right of the bar is a long servery which is adorned with Irish flags, roads signs and pictures of Muhammed Ali above. There is a dartboard at the far end and a fruity if you fancy a flutter. This wouldn’t be a proper Irish pub without the sport on the box, around the walls were a few screens with the horse racing on and a large projector screen showing live premiere league. . The beer choice was straightforward with lots of the regular’s favourites including Carlsberg, Carling, Fosters and of course Guinness. No trip to an Irish pub would be complete without a drop of the black stuff. My pint was superb, it stuck to the glass the whole way down and only cost a fiver. . The atmosphere was relaxed on this Saturday afternoon, the pub had a lovely local feel to it and the craic was good. At the heart of this pub was the charismatic Guv’nor who was having a laugh and bit of banter with the lads sat around the bar. . The Mayfair Tavern was an excellent find and I really enjoyed my pint here. This pub has everything you need for a great pub experience with a top Guv’nor at the wheel. Really like this proper Irish pub, especially given the presence of the pool table and darts board (a real rarity). It stays open fairly late and tends to have a nice, relaxed atmosphere.
A great pub for a pint. Beer, pool, jukebox and sport on TV. What more to ask for? Owned and run by an absolute gentleman who builds an affinity with his regulars and welcomes all! Certainly my pub of choice in Tooting! Highly recommend a visit!!
This is the finest pub in London. In my twenty years in this city, I have never come across Guinness so good, service so warm, and atmospheres so welcoming. The pub boasts a pool table, a jukebox with a wide range of music, a dart board, and much more.
