You will find The Railway Tavern in Richmond within a short stroll of Twickenham, Mortlake and Ham - however you won't find another like it. Step in to discover a traditional pub of unique character, revered for its eclectic range of real ales and its
The Railway Tavern was known in 1855 as The Railway Hotel, one of several pubs in the famous Quadrant of Richmond. In Victorian days the pub also offered rooms to its patrons, perhaps for sleep after one too many at the bar – or for those catching an early train. Today, the rooms have gone, but the pub remains and has been restored to its former glory. In fact, it's the perfect railway waiting room.
Latest visit was a bit of a joke. Ordered a lager shandy which came to £7.10 which is just ridiculous, asked the barman if that was right and was rudely told it was a pint of lager. Could possibly have stomached that but some people were there for a Christmas party which was bizarrely sectioned off with red and white hazard tape which looked so bad it was amusong. To add to the ambiance so was one of the toilets and the urinal was full of vomit and an empty can. Place looked like a crime scene despite charging top end prices. Unjustifiable. I don't think the party were too impressed and neither were we. Haven't given minimum stars as usually it's pretty good as a pub next to the station for a pint or to watch the football.
The classic burger is sOo tasty, better than Honest Burgers. So glad haven’t had such a tasty burger for a while😎💜
Fantastic place to taste some of the British cuisine. Pro: 1. The place is big with many tables, and near the train/tube/bus station. 2. Besides the a la carte menu, they also offer a traditional one with a drink included (highly recommended). Trust me, the portions are huge and wallet friendly. 3. Screens everywhere for sports fans, and also love music during the weekend Cons: 1. Very popular place, so to find a table can be challenging Overall, if you are in Richmond and need some fuel after a long walk in the park. This is the place
Absolutely loved this pub , I ordered the fish and chips , I ordered the large portion, and I got two large fish fillets, service was friendly and quick , I will definitely be going there again , I've long thought that you often get good honest food and service in pubs , the food is just as tasty as some fancy restaurants , but with out the price sometimes.
Lovely pub with a lots of tables and seat and nice little beer garden. Got a lot of TVs to show live sports. Great atmosphere and lovely bar snacks to go with a beer!
