I think the best way to describe the Duke is gourmet dining meets cozy family dining with a strong environmental mission. The food is so good that 9 plates out of 10 are basically licked clean. It’s all organic, locally sourced, seasonal ingredients with options for everyone (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and meat and sea food lovers) all while not being overwhelming with too many choices. The staff is super kind and warm and at the slightest rare mistake or discontent they really care to fix it. Even all the customers are lovely and many become regulars. Be it a family sunday roast, a date night, a work private hire, a birthday meal or a quick drink and meal alone - I highly recommend the Duke for any and all occasions.
Very attractive pub with a focus on sustainable, organic and ethically sourced produce. More of a restaurant than a local pub. Very elegant 'pub' menu with some creative options. I wouldn't pop in here for a drink but its a nice place for a quality local meal.
Went for Sunday roast and as we expected the food was really good. Slightly pricey but I guess this is the price of quality. Highly recommended.
Ridiculous prices. £29.80 for this plate which is somehow named a “roast”. It should be a crime in this country to serve a Sunday roast without roast potatoes and the traditional trimmings. The £1.50 Yorkshire on the side, however, should be sent to the The Hague for war crimes. When people book for a roast, they have a very specific thing in mind. The food tasted good, just don’t call it a roast please. And reduce your prices.
The Duke of Cambridge is located in Shoreditch, neighborhood of London and is Britain’s first organic pub. Had the Sunday roast and the burned orange polenta cake as well as some sourdough bread and it was delicious! The Sunday roast was perfection with unique sides like kimchi cabbage but still had the traditional taste and comfort one would expect. There is outdoors and indoors seating and the staff is attentive and friendly. I made a reservation on their site but it did not seem necessary. To get to the pub, you can take a nice walk alongside the canals nearby. Great spot to relax and have an afternoon out with friends over delicious food.
