Fantastic local pub that understands its modern clients and loyal Newham past. Love the traditional East End decor that feels home to proper geezers and modern students alike. The dartboard, mix of retro furniture, mosaic & wooden flooring is somewhere I'm definitely coming back too. My darts are accurately inaccurate. The warmth of this part of earthy London is still alive. The fact it sells rich home-made mulled wine next to Guiness, inch's cider and Pravha says a lot. Events space on offer too.

Such a beautiful building (listed) and the promise of an old fashioned Victorian experience. I used to frequent this pub in the 1980's and it was a great place to be. I pop into East Ham occasionally and used to drink in the Millers (spoony) but this was closed. So we popped into the Denmark Arms to see what had changed. The service was good but then again hardly anyone was in at around 17:30 on a Saturday evening. I purchased 2 pints of lager (no crisps) and the cost was £11.80. Extremely steep but a lot of trendy pubs are having to do this. The interior of the rub-a-dub is quite run down and needs a massive referb. But I know that is very expensive and being a listed building more so. It's nothing like I used to know and felt somewhat saddened by this as it deserves more. However that cannot be achieved if punters don't visit. The toilets were disgusting so that was very off putting. I suppose it is a real impossible task for the landlord/lady to improve the interior when there are no funds about. We stayed for the single pint and went home and purchased beers to drink at home. Not an ideal way to support the local boozers but this is a sign of the times. No

🚇 East Ham 🍺 £5.10 Pravha ❤️ A cracking Victorian East Ham boozer. . The Denmark Arms is located opposite East Ham Town Hall and at the busy intersection of Barking Road and bustling East Ham High Street, East Ham Tube is a ten minute walk away. . The pub was built in 1890 and achieved Grade II listing in 1998. This is a large one bar pub which retains many of its original Victorian period features. Throughout the pub are ornate columns and down the left hand side are gorgeous green glazed tiles. If you look around the ceiling you will see wonderful cornices and embossed friezes, this pub has so much beauty hidden in plain sight. Upstairs is a large function room which is available to hire. . The beer choice was good and full of familiar favourites including one cask. I decided on a pint of Pravha, my pint was great and reasonably priced. This pub has a British pub grub food menu, fish & chips is average priced at £15. . I visited around 2pm on a Friday lunchtime and the pub was quiet. I managed to have a chat with the new Landlady Melanie who took over the pub back in August. Melanie explained how she is engaging the local community and putting on events like quiz nights, Karaoke and DJ nights to keep the locals entertained. There is also live sport and a pool table, so there is something for everyone to enjoy here. I also got a chance to talk to one of the staunch locals Martin, Martin has drank in here for years and had many a story to tell, what a nice fella. . The @denmarkarmse6 is in a similar position to the surrounding pubs which lost a big chunk of income when West Ham moved. Even though this pub is a bit rustic around the edges, it’s a fantastic example of Victorian splendour and it’s rare to see a pub like this on this scale. Melanie and the team are doing a cracking job and waiting to give you a warm welcome at this cracking East Ham boozer. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 18/11/22

With recent revamp & new management, this pub is easily one of my favourites in East Ham! Great vibe, cosy & full of charming character. Spacious & airy. Excellent selection of drinks & amazing food... loved their vegan burger! I am already looking forward to coming back here soon.
