Always a brilliant pub for an after work drink. Although it gets busy the staff are quick and efficient. I recently left my bag in the pub after work and the staff took the time and trouble to track me down so that I could pop in and collect my bag. They made sure I knew what the contents of the bag were before they handed it over and turned what was a very stressful situation for me into a BIG relief! Customer service at its finest! With thanks to the manager and the whole team!

Only visited for dinner but was not disappointed. Had the fried haddock with chips and Londons Fullers Pride pie. Large portions and were delicious. Drank ale with the meal. Clearly something i will recommend to friends! Order at the bar and nice service.

I'm reviewing the pub, not the hotel. Pity Google mixes these up. Great beer (the Fuller's ESB is excellent) and decent pub food. A bit noisy (generally good music and some good-natured rowdiness: there are sports screens). The ceiling painting depicting Wellington and Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo is well done and worth a look.

Not every hotel caters to the niche tastes, but the Wellington Hotel in London splendidly embraces its uniqueness. The hotel, adorned with classic English charm, features charmingly narrow corridors, a nod to traditional architectural styles. What sets this hotel apart is its intriguing proximity to the railway tracks. Every five minutes, the rumble of a train adds to the ambient charm, an unusual yet delightful feature that I found particularly enchanting. So much so, that I often left my window open at night just to soak in these sounds of the city. Another delightful surprise is the genuine English pub located right at the reception. It's a perfect spot to immerse oneself in local culture and enjoy a pint. This combination of classic English vibes, unique location, and exceptional amenities makes the Wellington Hotel a place I would happily return to. Its distinct character might not be for everyone, but for those who appreciate a touch of the unconventional, it's a perfect choice.

The Wellington is situated on Waterloo Road opposite the mainline station, under the railway bridge. I arrived there from a tour of Devon and Cornwall, so the contrast of environment was stark. I chose this hotel for the convenience of its location. I think the management are well aware of the limitations of their site as they offered complimentary ear plugs and chilled drinks in the room. I had help to carry my luggage which was great after a long day (there’s no lift) and I found the room to be spacious and really well equipped with plenty of towels and a full set of toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and hand lotion). However the bathroom blind is slightly narrow for the window. You feel like you might be glimpsed from the busy high street when you’re sitting on the loo. Don’t worry about noise, although the building lacks double glazing the road noise dies down later in the evening and no noise drifts up from the downstairs pub. The shower has great pressure and is sparkling clean. The breakfast menu is the star of the show with options like eggs Benedict available as well as an English Breakfast. They offer left luggage which I made use of to take in a morning excursion before leaving London. I want to book again for a later break but they didn’t have any availability. I guess plenty more people are aware of this place.
