Food was really nice and lovely pub environment. We were very disappointed with one of the staff unfortunately. The barkeeper made us feel almost unwelcome as if we’re more a burden to her than anything else. I would have expected a bit more hostility considering the prices. The waiter was lovely, really made an effort but we had to wait quite long to get our bill.
One bloke was amazing, friendly and when not totally overwhelmed due to being severely understaffed, was great. For the other girl presumably it was her first day in hospitality or maybe lacked the facial muscles to smile. Decent pie, discretionary gratuity questionable, missing round of drink from the bill.... agreeable.
Very nice local pub👍🏻 thanks for good food and service🙏🏻
Pub renovated in recent years, converted more into a restaurant. The lovely pub with a great history and friendly place. We had excellent fish and chips.
Last had a pint in here around 40 years ago. It's changed a lot. But it's still here. That's a good thing. Friendly staff, good service, prices are what you'd expect in the area. It's lost that slightly Louche feeling but come and imagine Dylan Thomas, Turner, Sargent, Whistler and Bob Marley at the bar (and if you've ever wondered how "spending a penny" started...).
