Charming pub in east London with a variety of beers. It definitely has a local pub feel. The staff are very attentive and the venue is clean. No sticky tables!
Just a brilliant pub with amazing management and bar staff. Carpet life inside for the local - classic old school boozer. Darts, footy, music. Beer garden is sport in and aimed at a thunder crowd. Loads of screens for the footy and it's always rapid service.
Unreal local boozer. Great crowds and a decent sized beer garden with good cover from the elements. TVs everywhere for match days and good beers on tap.
Incredibly rude man working behind the bar. Came for a friends birthday where there were around 15 of us sitting outside, buying many drinks. I went to the bar and asked if they charged for soda water which he scoffed at and said yes. I asked for a glass of tap water instead and he said “you can’t order water and expect to be allowed to sit in this pub”. All I wanted was a glass of water in between beers? He slammed it down on the bar and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. The female staff were alright and friendly. *response: I went inside to the loo and went to the bar after that as was already inside. Asked for a soda, didn’t want to be charged £1.50 for it so asked for tap water. After then going outside again, I saw the watering points and continued to help myself from them and also used the bar outside with nice staff as the evening went on. I just thought the tone was uncalled for.
🚇 Dalston Kingsland 🍺 £5.50 Amstel ❤️ One of the best pubs in London. . I have visited The Army & Navy a few times over the years, usually on my way to see The Arsenal. My last visit was on St Patrick’s Day back in March this year. Getting here is easy, Dalston Kingsland station is a just five minute walk away. . This pub was built in the 1930’s by AE Sewell who was Truman Breweries principal architect. The pub retains many original features, is Grade II listed and is designed in a Neo Georgian style. . The decor oozes oldschool charm and the environment is welcoming and comfortable. There is a proper pub carpet, a good size bar, velour banquette bench seating, a dart board and for good measure, throw in a few TV’s showing live sport. One of the best features of this pub is the massive beer garden. There are loads of covered booths, TV’s showing live sport and also a new addition is the outdoor bar. . The beer selection is straight up reasonably priced keg options, there are a few craft beers available and the Guinness is well celebrated. The pub has recently teamed up with pizza gurus @yardsalepizza , so now you can have pizza delivered to the pub. . The atmosphere here is always warm and friendly, the pub attracts a broad crowd from all walks of life rather than just one demographic. This is down to Jimmy the Guv’nor who has been at the helm for the past 26 years and looks after his punters one and all. Jimmy gave me a tour of the pub and was telling me about how much work had gone in to the beer garden, which looks great. . The Army & Navy is one of my favourite pubs in London as it ticks so many boxes. There is the architectural heritage, old school decor, reasonably priced beer, a superb beer garden, welcoming atmosphere and the nicest Guv’nor you’ll ever meet. If you’ve not visited yet and want to experience how a pub should be, then put The Army & Navy at the top of your must visit pub list. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 17.03.23
