About us

This pub occupies the ground-floor and cellar of Penderel House, named after Richard Penderel. At the end of the Civil War, in 1652, he helped King Charles II to escape from Cromwell’s troops by hiding the royal fugitive in an oak tree on his country estate.

One of the best wetherspoons I've ever been in. Feels really spacious, has an outside space at the rear (was raining so didn't use). It was also well decorated for Christmas and felt very warm and cosy. Wasn't rowdy during the time we visited on a Sturday afternoon in December. Service was really good, even the order to table service was really efficient. Will come back and would eecommend

Well final evening in London after being surrounded by Chinese and Indian and Malaysian restaurants I wanted something I knew and I was told to go here and we'll it did not disappoint at all. A mixed grill with fries and a Coke heaven food for the final night . It is kind of a strange thing tho for me somone who hasn't been to their places before the whole downloading the app and ordering from ur table me a tech head easy but I could see how confused an elderly couple where who where travelling and walked in and sat down no idea how to get served. But the waitress explained but still u cud see how hard it was for them using smart phones so wud be nice to still be able to order normally.

Nice pub in London 🇬🇧 Our university rented the floor downstairs to have an event, drinks are really not expensive for London in general and the beers, cocktails and wine we tried were very good, therefore good quality/price ratio. Although I must say at some point it was smelling a bit bad in the bar for the last 2 hours in which we stayed.

I was very impressed with this pub and restaurant. I was served very quickly and politely. No drama or rolling the eyes when I asked to try an ale. I enjoyed a Big Chief for £4.55 and was happy to donate my change our of a fiver. Definitely one to pop into for value for money food and drinks combined with friendly service. 5 stars.

Just when I thought we found our go to pub, this gem pops up. It's right off a bus stop which is convenient. It's huge! Its history is amazing. It sits on the site of the farmer who hid King Charles II. You should really look into it. They have a bar at ground level and a cellar bar as well, which is huge in itself. There is plenty of seating. They have a beer garden in the back as well as tables outside the front of the pub. Staff is super friendly and attentive and on top of things. The food is really good. We had curry and the portions are quite satisfying. You have the option to get a larger portion, but it is not needed. Restrooms are downstairs. They are quite large and very clean. There is a handicapped restroom on the ground floor. Great pub! You can get lost in time just sitting, drinking and eating.
