About us

Previously known as The Marquis of Lansdowne, we've lovingly refurbished this handsome Victorian corner pub in Hackney and relaunched it as simply The Marquis.

We have a great selection of beers, ales and cider (5 lines are dedicated to exploring the world of craft beer, keg by keg), along with a short list of unfussy cocktails.

We're dog-friendly during the day but play music in the evenings (through a bespoke sound system) and show selected Premiership and UEFA matches.

We have DJs in the evenings on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and a rolling schedule of brilliant music events in our 100-cap basement music venue.

Came for a drink before a show at EartH, then came back after. Bar & door staff were so friendly and helpful. DJ was good and the place is cosy. Loved it.

Great venue, we had hired downstairs for a private party. Dj both was good, CDJs and 1210s both there with Pioneer DJM series mixer. Everyone was helpful. Would be good to do an event there once a month 🤔

Lovely wee pub, great place to watch the 6 nations too. Not sure if they will always prioritise the rugby over footie, but they did today and so chuffed they did. Thank you for a great afternoon / evening.

We visited around 18:30 on Halloween night. It was very empty, just a few seats occupied. There was a special £5 cocktails before 7 pm, so we ordered 2 of each! If you like bitter, then the cocktails are perfect for you, other for me they were horrible. I'd rather have ordered a few beers, lol. We were really disappointed that they got rid of the pool table, plus they don't cook food, instead you order through a third party (Yard Sale Pizza) who deliver to you outside the pub (free delivery). Though the decorations were great and the 2 staff there were polite and friendly, the atmosphere was really dull but nevertheless, our party of 6 made our own evening enjoyable.
