Step in to discover a traditional pub of unique character, revered for its eclectic range of real ales and its quality pub food, which are served, as they should be, with a generous measure of famous British hospitality.
Said to be built from old ships' timbers by Sir Christopher Wren, Ye Olde Watling has a remarkable heritage dating to 1668. It stands on Watling Street, a Roman road leading out of the City via Ludgate. One claim to fame is that our upstairs rooms were used as a drawing office during the building of St Paul's Cathedral. We also think our pub catered for Wren's workmen after the Great Fire.
Ye Olde Watling is one of many rare gems in the Nicholson's collection of great British pubs, reputed for their distinctive buildings, intriguing history and vibrant atmosphere.

Even though its always packed, the staff are always accommodating, helpful and kind. They accommodated my disability, and sat us at another table so we could have a little more room. The wine was smashing, and the food was extremely tasty. As always, Jackie and her staff looked after us.
Lovely cozy pub food was decent but the staff were the stand out, amazing service and super friendly. Would come back for the service alone.

An historic pub on Watling Street near Bank, I visited on a Sunday and the City Of London can be deserted with hardly anywhere open but the Ye Olde Watling was full of life. The service was friendly and the pints and the lamb shank shepherds pie I had were both decent.
A fantastic pub. Superb service (especially Scott!). Excellent food. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Fine food, great cask ales and a warm welcome make this excellent city pub well worth a visit. Just down the road from St Paul's Cathedral, it's a great place to stop for lunch while exploring London's historic heart.
