An oasis in the heart of London, with the City Thameslink Station directly opposite to the pub’s doors and walking distance from St Paul’s tube station, Chancery Lane and Blackfriars, The Conductor is the perfect spot for a drink and a bite to eat.
Next to City Thameslink station (north exit). New pub started out as the Learned Mark part of the now defunct but well remembered Old Monk chain. Became one of the Jamie's bars around 2008 when the hand pumps were removed.
The food was a bit or miss as they bar staff didn’t know much about the menu choices. I think it was a new menu. What came was pretty decent and the atmosphere and choice of drinks was decent. I’d go there again Just adding this edit as the response from the pub misinterpreted what I said. The food was fine - my “hit and miss” comment was only that the menus were new and the staff had not been trained as to what was on the menu. If you are changing a menu, give staff some guidance or notes to help customers
Really wonderful pub, great atmosphere and fantastic service from the staff. We were seated in the corner closest to the bar and had a chat with the manager who was very warm and welcoming. He provided a few recommendations on the food as the menu had lots of options to choose from. I ordered the cheeseburger and wow! It was absolutely delicious. I couldn't help eyeing up my partner's food, his veg burger looked incredible too. Will definitely come back again for food and drinks after work.
Ventured here for the last pint of the evening after realising the Pregnant Man has closed down!!! 😭 I was hoping the craft selection was a little wider than it was, but the staff were very friendly and it’s ideally located right next to the train station.. It was quiet whilst we were there but can only imagine this is a very busy pub in less strange times!!
After a tiring day in London, we decided to have an afternoon snack at The Conductor and luckily enough, it did not disappoint. We only tried their sharer sized Nachos and lemonade but the menu looked well-priced . They have great servings and the nachos were freshly prepared. The place wasn't busy when we went there and we felt comfortable and cosy thanks to its warm and welcoming interior. The staffs were also polite and accommodating, so that's a plus. Reservations are also accepted here as I've seen some tables were reserved to someone. They have a nice outdoor space, too bad it felt cold that day so we decided to dine indoors. Overall, I will be coming back with friends here because this resto feels like a good place to hang out.
One of my favourites for lunch. Friendly service and well looked after by Angela, Federica and the rest of the staff. Food is always quick to come out. Hoping The Conductor will reopen soon.

Dating from 1721, The Hoop and Grapes has a fascinating history. Saved from demolition in the 1990s and now a grade-II listed building, this pub was the location for secret ‘Fleet’ weddings during the 18th century. Originally opposite the Fleet prison, th
