I celebrated my birthday in the private function room upstairs and I had a great time with my friends. Everyone loved the pub, great location, cosy atmosphere and the staff was very nice and accommodating! They even offered me a glass of prosecco and a bottle of wine. Would definitely recommend for a private party!!
VERY VERY disappointing visit. The room was full of smoke on arrival as the staff seemed unable to properly start the fire. Service was very rude and uncaring. We did come half an hour early for our table which were then told there was no reservation. They did eventually find our booking but even so asking if we’d could have a drink and wait was greeted with shrugged shoulders. We sat outside in the rain waiting to avoid the smoke and were never even told when our was ready. We had specifically booked for a new years roast and on arrival were assured there were plenty in stock only to be told when attempting to order a mere half an hour later they were sold out. Not even a courteous apology or any recognition. One of the worst service experiences my friend and I have encountered. To further exacerbate our extremely poor experience the bloody Mary’s we ordered were nearly undrinkable as the chunks of horseradish immmediately clogged the straw and sipping it meant a rogue horseradish chunk so big we both choked. All in all it ruined our New Year’s Day and we left without any lunch whatsoever and will definitely not be returning to what was once a great pub.. Sad to see the pub now filled with unfriendly, uncaring staff and management who couldn’t have made us feel more unwelcome if they tried. The staff did complain of being tired from New Year’s Eve but even given leeway for this does not make up for the shambolic experience and total waste of time and money. We would leave zero stars if possible!!!!!
I'm in London to visit friends, but had a day to myself. Because it was Sunday, I was searching for places that served a Sunday roast. So I walked a few miles to this place, through the pulsating Camden. I ended up in this nice and quiet area, at this extremely cozy place, which was neatly decorated for Christmas, and Christmas music playing, adding to the experience in a good way! At the bar, I was met by this lovely woman who showed me to my table. I need to specifically highlight her, as she showed me what great service is. It didn't take long for my roast and beer to arrive. As I dug in, I just started smiling. The food was so good, packed with flavor, some crunch from the vegetables. The carrot and potatoes were perfectly done. And the beer complimented it all really well. I LOVE doing random things like this, and everyone else going here after me, will not walk away disappointed. Thank you for having me!
Better than ever. I can only assume that the pub is under new management. Marked improvement from when I was last there. The pizza was as good as you will get anywhere in London and a great selection of drinks. Clean pub (including toilets) and good lighting. As a photographer I always judge a place by its lighting! Small things like bespoke plates gives it a more homely (vs standardised commercial) feel. A good pub is nothing without friendly staff; and they were lovely. I wonder what the Sunday roasts are like.... must give that a try! My only gripe..... £7.20 for a pint of beer and £4.50 for a lemonade drink left a somewhat bitter taste. I can only assume it's priced according to its location.
Went for lunch an amazing “ working lunch “ menu £10 a Main or £20 for 3 Starter of fish cakes exquisite, more akin to bistro v pub . Yet the quality of the cooking kept on coming. The cod cooked to perfection, translucent with another amazing sauce full of flavour Dessert also did not disappoint Ignore the negative feedback from muppets who turn up on a Sunday lunchtime at 1pm and can’t believe it’s rammed QED . Give them a chance the chef is amazing
