Nice bar with a great atmosphere, but there's an odd sewage smell that was difficult to escape when we visited. Hopefully just a temporary thing, but it appeared to be coming from the bar which was quite off-putting. Music was great, and staff lovely. Very slow to serve drinks. Good for a night out, but beware the smell!
Some of reviews here are way too harsh. I’ve been to Martello Hall a couple of times in the last year. Once for a friend’s leaving do, and once for a friend’s birthday. I ordered food each time I visited and it was decent and reasonably priced. The only small criticism I had was there was a mistake on our bill. But when we pointed it out to the staff they were helpful and quickly fixed it.
Good food but we were a family big group place was almost empty and we had difficulty getting service attention and we noticed all baby high chairs were stacked up near the toilets with no cleaning facilities near to Them. Food was nice and cocktails were on point but as a family we would have wanted more cleanliness standards. We had a lovely time but would say the staff could have been so much more attentive
Martello Hall on Mare Street. A bit of a gem. The house lager is lovely, served with a laugh and a smile by the excellent barman guiding the ship on my visit. The place is geared to the Saturday bottomless brunch but appears welcoming to everyone. Not the place for lovers of real ales as there are none (as far as I could see!). Everything else is spot on though wonderful service and a jolly clientele. A delightful place. Just explored a bit more, for a workout, visit the toilets - on the second floor. Great restaurant area at the rear. The place looks beautiful+ the most helpful excellent staff to help
We came for bottomless brunch which was pretty cool with a few options for drinks. The rum wasn’t too strong so it went down well for me! The food was good, and the triple cooked chips was probably my favourite. The downside would be cost and atmosphere, it was just too loud to be able to hear anything and quite a tight space. For a bigger group of friends and maybe one time visit is fine but I couldn’t see myself going there with a small group.

At Smitty's we put the music first. That doesn’t mean we don’t make killer drinks too. We have a unique selection of cocktails which we infuse in-house, as well as a healthy list of stirred classics.
