Went in to eat only. Ordered a turkey roast and fish and chips.... roast was hot in the middle and cold around the edge manager assured me they didn't use a microwave lol... but we all know the a microwave heats from the middle out... told them I wasn't happy to pay £20 for this cold meal and was giving a £6 discount. My husbands fish and chips well... it was all batter no fish... the peas were not mushy but chopped up and gross he didn't eat them!. Ordered 2 sausage for my dogs at £2 each only they enjoyed their treat in all this. This place is a waste of money. Over rated! I'd never step foot on here again......
We were staying locally and were contemplating where to go for a meal and some drinks. We thought we’d give The Lodge a try as we’d eaten at another local pub the last time we were in Old Hunstanton (which wasn’t great!) but had only been in to The Lodge once for a drink a few years ago. Very pleased we did! We had our dog with us so we sat in the bar. It’s got a lovely feel to it, and modern decor. We had a peer into the restaurant area and that looked lovely. The service throughout the evening was excellent. Really friendly and attentive staff (and lovely to our dog, bringing him out some treats!), and everything was done quickly and efficiently. There are times when you can go out for a meal and the food is nice but just ok. The food here was much more than ok, it was absolutely lovely! Starters were a delicious smoked salmon roulade, and mussels with THE most tasty sauce. Mains were a steak and a vegetarian lasagne, both of which were delicious. We were so pleased we went here. We didn’t really know what to expect, but were blown away by the amazing meal we had, and excellent service, and would without a doubt go back again the next time we are in Old Hunstanton. Thank you to all the staff for making our evening so nice!
Rare for me to leave a negative review, but this was a very average experience unfortunately, was really looking forward to coming here, the ambience is nice and the decor very pleasant, however the service was not the best, the staff were more interested dancing to the radio and took no real thought to customers, they lacked little knowledge of the menu and some of food ordered from the menu was not all available, we were only told after ordering and had to re order, ended up ordering second choices and very average meal. Warm, not hot, Chips needed to be a lot warmer, and the Fish was overcooked the batter tasted overdone, and the most expensive glass of wine ever, not even London charge that much for a glass of wine. Coffee was luke warm, when mentioned the server said " that's the way it comes" The Starters were nice so that was a bonus, but the rest of it a disappointment to be fair. Other venue nearer the beach that looked nice so will try those next time. Such a shame. Chatting in the car park to another customer who said very much the same, so maybe a bad day, but hopefully they can do better in the future for other diners.
Very friendly and attentive staff at Reception and in the lovely bar. Good food and terrific breakfast. Nice walk into Hunny and on the regular bus rout along the coast. Good value. Booked two nights and stayed longer. Highly recommended and booking again soon. Andrew
Booked up for a meal and Not disappointed at all with very good service from turning up to leaving. The food was excellent not cheap but you got what you payed for. Would definitely recommend.
