Had a lovely meal for my husbands birthday. The meal was very tasty, lovely presentation and served by a very pleasent member of staff. The portions are large and a good choice of meals to suit all tastes. Highly recommended. My husband was presented with a celebrstion plate for us to share which was a lovely touch on his birthday.
The food was superb. Great menu packed with local produce. My only complaint is the proximity of the smaller tables to each other... Perhaps on quieter days give people a bit more distance, it would improve the experience.
Great restaurant with some Excellent dishes. The poached smoked haddock is delicious. A good selection of beers on tap, and lovely decor makes the place feel upmarket but unpretentious.
Superb food, good choice of beer, lovely renovation, great staff, all in all a winning combination. 3 of the 4 of us ended up needing doggy bags for our main course left overs, and we saw other ones on the other tables around us. Personally I feel that the portion sizes were too big and maybe a little smaller and a £2 or £3 reduction would be my preference. I was grateful I hadn't eaten a big lunch that day. I normally opt for a main and dessert but there was no way I could squeeze in a dessert after the main. That was disappointing for me and also meant that the Lodge didn't get as much revenue from us as they could have!
