The Little Ale House was created by husband and wife team, Rich and Danni, in an effort to recreate a rustic country pub atmosphere in Harrogate town centre.
Passionate believers in the dying art of the ‘proper’ country style pub, the duo champion conversation, micro breweries, and a warm rustic atmosphere; they completely shun TVs, background music and pub ‘gastroficiation’!
Rich and Dan believe that the best beers are produced by small batch breweries who are passionate about their brews. As a result, the bar has an ever evolving selection of ales brewed by independent micro-breweries – change is the spice of life! There will always be a mix of strengths and styles – including stouts/porters.
At any one time there will be up to 5 cask beers and 5 keg beers. Big supporters of ‘fresh is best’, Rich and Danni endeavour to have the right ratio of beers to customers, so you know that the beer is in top nick.

Possibly my favourite bar in town! Very cosy and quirky offering some fine ales locally and afar! The owners and staff are incredibly friendly and you’ll never be disappointed to enjoy your time there. A lovely warm fire is lit in the colder months and the courtyard, front patio offers a delightfully relaxing atmosphere. Perfect for our curry club before we indulge in the local spice house!
We loved everything about this little gem, from upstairs to downstairs, an excellent range of tasty beers and friendly staff, patrons and pooches. Everyone should have a local like this.
Cool cosy Micropub with an unintentional Harry Potter vibe. Great beers and whiskies on offer and a lovely candlelit atmosphere.
After a day of experiencing York, we decided to go back to the AirBnb in Harrogate and head out. We were advised by the server at the Stuzzi restaurant to go to this place. Chalk board full of beers with tables in the cellar to discuss life over! Very charming
Popped in for a first visit on Wednesday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised at the laid back welcoming atmosphere. The friendly barman poured me the perfect pint of Saltaire Blonde which was enjoyed in the sunny beer yard at the back which was a joy. Will definitely be back next time I’m in town
