Probably an early 19th-century building, part of the original Thorpe Acre village, now surrounded by modern houses.
The unusual look is due to a change in road layout that has resulted in the back of the pub adjoining the road. To the 'front' there are gardens and a children's play area. The pub is split-level, with the bar and front entrance lower than the lounge, which is accessed via steps leading from the road. Live entertainment plays Friday and Saturday.

All friendly and helpful people. Lovely food and drinks served there. It is a really nice little pub with a beautiful big garden at the back. Mia Darcy and Andrew Darcy and all the team are well nice.. 😁👍🏻 Kenneth Murphy
Thanks for making us feel welcome, our meal was lovely and the dessert was yummy. Looking forward to next time .
Nice local pub. Ideal place to stop off for a quick drink!
Amazing mothers day meal it sadly wasn't ! Zero atmosphere and a main meal that would fit on an average sized tea plate for £10.95 ! Virtually empty on what should be 1 of the busiest Sundays of the year. A few drinkers in the bar - possibly 6, but seriously wished we'd have not bothered but lesson learned. When you advertise something as 'special' it needs to be exactly that. Sadly it was especially poor.
Lovely landlord and lady. There was a band, live entertainment, good selection of beers, wines, spirits, and a warm welcome. Will be going again. X visited again for Sunday lunch. All home cooked and puddings are home cooked also. Again a warm welcome from lovely landlord and lady. Served from 2 pm till 6 on Sunday. Not too expensive but great food.
