We have a newborn baby so for the last few sundays have collected a roast dinner from the blacksmiths. The staff are amazing and so attentive and the food is so delicious! The food is always wrapped so there are no spills and everything is thought of. You’ve made our lives that little bit easier so thank you so much for accommodating us, 5 star service all round!!
Went for Sunday lunch two Sundays ago and we arrived half hour early, we were sat in a lovely lounge area and drinks bought to table. Then right on time they said our table was ready. All 4 of us ordered two courses Sunday lunch menu. Starters were awesome liked by all. The main was incredible very tasty we asked for extra gravy and cauliflower cheese and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant is extremely clean and the staff are very friendly. Lovely place we will be booking again. Thanks guys.
The food was OK but the service was just awful. We ordered from the Sunday lunch menu and the food took 50 minutes to come out. One of our meals then didn't arrive until it was chased and one of the meal missing a Yorkshire pudding. I don't think I've ever left a negative review on here but this was just not good enough.
Delicious food, really enjoyable and clearly high quality ingredients, cooked to perfection and for the quality I would say prices are reasonable. We had the scallop starter to share (I really like the pea puree!) and we both had lamb rump with lamb shoulder for the main which was stunning. The flavours were beautifully balanced and there was a perfect mix of textures. I really appreciated the slightly crunchy, buttery brocolli - yum! Unfortunately for us, the atmosphere was a bit lacking - it was too dark in the dining room and it lacked any character or charm. That being said, the outside area is very sweet and I'm sure is a lovely place to relax in the darker evenings. We also found the service to be lacking in warmth. It was friendly and polite but lacked a certain something. We were in and out within an hour and, for a celebration evening, we were just not 'wowed' as much as expected. Not disappointed but not overwhelmed.
We throughly enjoyed a meal recently at The Blacksmith Arms. The service and ambience were top notch, and the food was nothing short of fantastic - the entire table of 5 enjoyed every element of the meal. For me, the highlight was the Lamb Shank which just fell off the bone - it was sublime. I certainly would return in the future for a meal when visiting Barrow Upon Soar.
