The food was delicious. I ordered a large lamb and beef roast. Everything tasted great and the meat was cooked well. Dessert was also very nice. The staff were friendly and efficient. They clearly deal with a lot and working in a place like this can't be easy. The only thing that let me down was a couple who were complaining but well done to the assistant manager and manager who handled the situation extremely well. These things can't be helped.
It is a lovely pub with a wonderful food offering. The customer service is great. We wanted to amend our booking with an increase in numbers on a Sunday lunchtime, and it was no issue for the team. All were attentive, quick to respond, and polite and friendly. The food was delicious. We'll certainly book again.
We were a large party of 11. On the day the pub restaurant was full to capacity. The waiting staff especially Ashley kept us well informed and entertained. She provided activities for the two children as the pub doesn't have WiFi. The food came out all together after only a 30min wait and it was delicious. Highly recommend and we will be back
Managed to book a table on the last early slot, because it was apparently fully booked, we we there for almost an hour and only a few tables came in so not sure how it was fully booked when the restaurant was half empty. We were greeted with a warning from the staff that we only have a 1 hr 50 minute sitting to eat our food as were an older couple who then sat next to us on another table. We were a couple with a three year old girl, not a table of 10 lads drinking. We checked the menu before we left home and having been before we knew what we wanted to order, However on arrival we were told there was a specific Mother’s Day menu and so we had to pay for 2 or 3 courses instead of just having 1 course. It was basically the same as their normal Sunday menu. Ok, well its mothers day and we made the mistake of coming here now so lets just have 2 courses.... Asked if my 3 year old daughter was able to order a child's meal from the child's menu, as the only options on the mothers day menu was for older kids....but apparently they cannot do that either because it’s Mother’s Day 🤦♂️ So remember folks if you have any specific requests or dietary needs, it doesn't matter because they cannot help. Portions were much smaller than a regular Sunday when we have been before, probably because its mothers day. Overall an unpleasant experience with staff unwilling to accommodate, forced to pay for a 2 course meal we didn’t want and smaller than normal portions. I have worked in the restaurant business myself for many years and my family also own a restaurant, we certainly don't treat our customers with such disdain. I am not sure if its lack of training with the staff or if they had less chefs in the kitchen but it certainly wasn't pleasant. Really disappointing experience, especially compared with how much better it is during the summer. That being said we probably wont be returning.
I came here today for the first time on a whim with a friend, and we had an absolutely brilliant meal! I opted for the Lunch menu, and had 3 courses at £13.00 which was excellent value for money. This is available Mon-Fri 12pm-5pm. I ordered the chicken strips, Yorkshire pudding wrap with beef, and the lemon meringue pie. All of the portions were absolutely huge, and the food was extremely tasty. My friend opted for the 12oz Ribeye with stilton sauce, which she says was also excellent. Needless to say we both left absolutely stuffed and satisfied. There are a good selection of draught lagers and ciders, as well as bottled varieties and spirits. We went for the Inch's cider and the Strongbow Cloudy Apple cider- which went down a treat with our meal. The staff were extremely welcoming, and the ladies who attended to our table this afternoon were extremely friendly and efficient. They really seem to have nailed the customer service aspect of the job. The pub itself is beautiful, with ample car parking & the interior has a warm and cosy feel. We felt incredibly relaxed. The bathrooms are also extremely clean, and the pub is evidently family friendly with a large play area for children. 5* from me. I will definitely be returning.
