On Friday 7 December 2018, The Malt Shovel, Worthington re-opened under new management, who trade as The Malt Shovel Group Ltd and comprises of a consortium of seven like minded individuals, all of whom are known in the area.
When The Malt Shovel was advertised for sale, the Group explored opportunities in order to make a viable joint purchase to acquire this establishment and save the last social hub in Worthington and make this a warm and welcoming place to frequent, enjoying the open fires, fine guest ales and social interaction.
After trading for only a short period of time, we are absolutely overwhelmed by the support from our customers and we thank you all. Your support has re-assured the Group that the decision to purchase the Malt Shovel and keep it alive was absolutely the right decision. We would also like to acknowledge our two wonderful Managers - Sharon & Zoe who have been instrumental in our success bringing their vast experience and personalities and now making the Malt Shovel their baby!! These two ladies have worked tirelessly to ensure that the drinks are perfect and the place is a welcoming place to frequent and in the three weeks we have been trading have certainly embraced their new challenge at the busiest time of the year - having very little time to themselves. Your hard work and dedication has not gone unnoticed ladies - thank you!!
We are "Summer Ready" after a transformation of our outside decking area. What a great place to enjoy a fabulous drink (or two) in the sunshine!!

Superb lovely village pub. Wonderful staff with an open fire on a cold day. Perfect for dog walkers
If ever you are near the Malt Shovel, stop in for a pint and feel instantly at home with neighbors.
Really disappointed that the published opening times are not up to date. Cycled a long way today to find it closed!
Absolutely adore this little gem of a pub. Staff are friendly, located in a nice village. They offer a small range of food of Fridays, and it's always clean and immaculate.
Stopped by here for lunch today. Good is incredibly good value and tastes awesome. Not much info online about opening times or food so see images below.
